Limited seating at this place but definitely worth it. There was two employees on the floor and a couple of large parties. The guy looked a little frazzled – didn’t know how to multitask (table next to us sat for awhile to pay the bill and the looks on their faces expressed their irritation). There was a lot of people traffic coming in as they were picking up their food or ordering from Uber Eats/Door Dash. So you know this place is popular.

I had the pleasure of dining at Sapore Express to celebrate my son’s birthday with family. And I must say, I was blown away by the quality of their homemade pasta and sauce options. From the classic carbonara to the creamy alfredo to the excellent squid ink pasta and veal piccata, there was something for everyone’s taste buds. But what truly set this place apart was the exceptional service provided by Oswaldo. Even when the restaurant was busy, he went above and beyond to make sure that our dining experience was enjoyable. It was impressive to see him handle everything so seamlessly, truly a one-man show. Sapore Express is a hidden gem that I highly recommend to anyone looking for delicious Italian food and outstanding service. Five stars all around!

The pasta was delicious, I ordered a carbonara and it was just perfect creamy and flavorful. Also we ordered fried calamari and it was good. Service and attention on point.

Despite the name, this is also a sit-down restaurant. It’s a branch of the Burlingame restaurant. The food is outstanding Italian with very nice, strong flavors. The noodles are al dente with a nice chew. Loved it! Service can be slow since the entire FOH is 1-2 people and it does get busy. So, come with plenty of time to spare if you plan to sit down. You can’t go wrong with getting it togo either

The pasta here is delicious! The atmosphere is very casual – it would be a great spot for a quick bite at lunch. The noodles are really yummy and they add just the right amount of sauce. The portion size is not too big which meant that I could finish my plate of pasta in one sitting.

I’m almost becoming a resident there! Delicious fresh pastas and lots of personal attention. Large portions so half goes back home with me for dinner. Loved their spaghetti vongole, bolognese and mussels over ink squid spaghetti. Casual dining. Desserts and salads are great too.

I walked past this normal looking place, saw a friendly smiling man standing outside so I asked for direction to a cell phone store, and decided to come here afterward because of how nice and genuine he is. Turns out, this is Jervi, the restaurant’s manager who let himself and his staff serve me even though we came back after they closed for a brief lunch break (between 2 and 5PM). The food is out of this world, it’s so delicious, I told all my CA friends about this place. The pastas are handmade right there so they’re super fresh, and the sauce is definitely something I want to steal the recipe for. The 2 dishes we ordered are recommended by Jervi, one is made with squid ink which is unusual but soooo tasty. I should’ve ordered another one for to go. The owner’s friend was there to visit, he’s very friendly also which probably is an Italian thing, and told us that was how they made pastas back home. Such a nice experience I had that day. Don’t leave San Mateo without dining here!

Walked in hungry and curious and left with an warm belly filled with delicious creamy pasta! Carbonara was a hearty portion of hot rich Alfredo and bacon bits. Rustica was a rich tomato cream based unusually-shaped but satisfying pasta and well rounded flavors. Jervi was very friendly and accommodating. Plate of complimentary fresh in-house bread accompanied with oil and vinegar preceded the meal.

Pasta is fresh and well done. My favorite type is the Fusili Pomodoro with added chicken. I like the pomodoro because it has no added cream. One time I saw the kitchen. Everything is cooked in a generous helping of olive oil, which I think enhances the flavors. I usually order a beet salad on the side. The dressing is good. It makes the arugula nice to eat. The beats here are somehow juicierthan any other beets I’ve eaten.
