New to the area and was recommended to eat here. Absolutely way overpriced. Ridiculous prices for a place that serves their flat sodas from a 2 liter. Never was even offered a refill on any of the drinks anyway. If they want to charge 30-40.00 for a plate they need to do some updating and cleaning. Sorry just being honest.

If you want some great local seafood and steak then the Variety is most definitely the place you need to eat!!! It is my absolute favorite! The seafood is always fresh and is amazing! You can not possibly get a better tasting steak from anywhere else! It is so juicy and good! The staff is always helpful and friendly! The drinks are awesome! The owner is always there also.. Great food and atmosphere!

The food was definitely fresh and tasty, but I had to knock off a couple of stars. The food, while good, is very expensive for what you get. We even had a waitress explain to us that there were other ways to order to make the same food cheaper, which is very misleading on the menu part. Almost everything was marked as market price, which I’ve never seen so prominently in other restaurants. We wound up paying over $100 for 3 people, and the portions weren’t that great, either. One thing we did appreciate about the food was that they do not salt it beforehand, leaving you to season it however you want.

The Variety is a well-known restaurant in Aiken with a decades long reputation for serving top quality food with great service at reasonable prices. However, on our most recent visit, we were shocked by the high price increases. Most entrees ranged in price between $30 & $40. A 20 oz. ribeye steak was $52. Seafood platter $40. All fish and seafood specials were $38 – $40 each. Hamburgers, just the burger, $19. French fries are an additional $5. I understand about inflation, higher food prices, etc., but that’s ridiculous.

Doesn’t look very fancy from the outside but what a fabulous meal we had. I had the deviled crab dinner with baked potato and salad. Everything was cooked perfectly. Salad was very fresh and crisp. Husband had sea bass which was also excellent. The servers was friendly and attentive. Met the owner who had been there over 40 years. Super nice people. Can’t wait to visit again soon!

Great staff but way to expensive. I almost fell on the floor when the waitress told us how much they charged for a plate of fried okra. She tried to justify the price lol. She was so sweet and I appreciate the hard work she put into making sure her customers were satisfied. Unfortunately my family won’t be back. The 3 are ⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the waitresses.
