If you are looking for a quick place to get a home cooked/diner meal this is not the place for you. From the time we entered until we left it was an hour and 50 minutes. They had what appeared to be two cooks in the kitchen and three waitresses. Given the number of tables they had of other customers one wouldn’t expect to have to wait just over an hour and a half for your food, after placing your order.

Busy Friday, so we knew we were going to wait to be served but, we were recognized right away when we sat down. Waitress did hustle waiting on other patrons. She was friendly and helpful when we ordered.

It is very likely that I will never eat here again. Unfortunately there is no option for negative stars on the review. I have been going to this restaurant for over 20 years, but the food I was served on mothers day weekend was so bad I will avoid this place for a long time. I regret that I didn’t take a picture of my plate, because it left me speechless to the point that I didn’t even complain. I can not even believe that it was brought to the table, but the waitress was very inexperienced and it showed. I ordered a simple cheese burger basket with fries. I was served a plate that had about 14 small fries, and a burned mess that sort of looked like it was a burger. The burger was poorly shaped and burnt to a crisp. The bun was burned so bad it was unbelievable. When I flipped the top of the bun over to put it on the burger I saw it had been smashed almost flat and had what appeared to be a hole pushed through it from a finger. There also was no cheese on the cheese burger that I had ordered. I’m not sure what was on all over the pickles that were on my plate, but it looked like dirt from the floor. I’m not really sure what management is trying to accomplish, but if it’s serving horrible food they did a great job of that.

Do yourself a favor and stop at the gas station and get a chuckwagon rather than stop here. We arrived at the restaurant and had to ask our server to wipe off the already set table. After we sat, another couple sat in the booth next to us a couple minutes after. Bailey, our server decided to serve them first. Moments later she came to deliver our waters and take our order. After sitting for over a half hour, the couple next to us finally got their food. In the meantime another couple sat in another table next to us and ordered their food. That couple received their order before we did. The couple that sat just after us finished their meal paid and left. At this point we had been at the restaurant for 45 minutes. Getting frustrated we asked Bailey if our food was coming soon. She stated she would check. A minute later she came back and stated they were plating our meals. 20 minutes later we finally received our meals. I ordered a country omelet to which the eggs we nothing short of rubber but very short on taste. The hash browns were soggy and my English muffin resembled more of a hockey puck than anything eatable. Upon Bailey delivering our food we had to ask her to refill our waters as they had been empty for about an hour at this point. When I travel away from home I usually try to find these smaller diners because they typically do a better job than bigger restaurants. Unfortunately for Motley, MN, this is one of only a few places to eat in town. Countryside Diner is doing a great job at promoting their competition.

I really wanted to like this place and I hate to give a bad review to a small town business but we stopped by this past weekend around 1:30 p.m. The sign said seat yourself, so we did. After about 10 minutes we saw a waitress who brought us menus and water. Then she disappeared and we never saw her again. After another 10 minutes, we decided to leave and head to the next town.

Staff was friendly. Great atmosphere for a small town diner. Food was good. Bacon was a little on the salty side but… it’s bacon. If your passing through give it a try.
