Diorio Restaurant & Bar Menu – Waterbury, CT

Type : Italian restaurant

Location : Waterbury, CT

The legendary history of Diorio Restaurant began in the early 1920’s. The late Rocco Diorio was responsible for the fine traditional food and many lasting memories for most of the people in the greater Waterbury area. The restaurant was closed in 1980 and reopened in 1991 after total restoration to its original splendor.

The legend continues as we remain true to those endearing memories. We have the original marble bar, oversized mahogany bankers booths, tin ceiling and the most impressive acid etched mirrors displaying historical Waterbury.

Diorio Restaurant’s ambience, memories, history, and Northern Italian Nouvelle cuisine supply a new and exciting dining experience for the adventuresome palate.

Classic Italian cuisine matched by vintage tin ceilings, tile floors, a marble bar & roomy booths. Based on 199 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.4 stars. Price $$$

Diario’s italian restaurant provides a variety of options on its menu. The gemelli pasta with crumbled sausage was very good.

This restaurant was recommend by the hotel. The dining area is dimly lit and does not add to the appeal. Our server was brief and spent time correcting our pronunciation of dishes.

Wonderful time, really nice renovations. The food was wonderful. We had the bruchetta bread, and the stuffed long hots for appetizers. Ordered the 16 oz ribeye, cooked to my order. Desserts were phenomenal. A very good time. Worth the money for the high quality all around.

Diorio is a wonderful, old school steakhouse. The ambiance, food, and service is excellent. I have only been there a few times due to the distance from my home, but I want to go back soon when I am in the area. It is my understanding that they are temporarily closed for renovation. I hope they don’t change too much because the old world charm was warm and inviting. My favorites are the shrimp cocktail, lobster bisque and the melt in your mouth filet mignon. Can’t wait to return for yet another wonderful experience.

At first glance you think, WOW this is going to be great. But that’s where it all ends. Although it was busy it wasn’t packed. We waited 15 min before they found us a table amongst at least 5 empty tables. We were seated by a very loud group of gen z wanna be’s. They weren’t only loud they were obnoxious. The server finally found us and brought us some pellingrino that we requested. He then took our drink order. He returned about 10 min later to ask if we would like appetizers. My wife got the arugula salad and I got the clams casino. About 5 min later we received our drinks. Then in 8 to 10 min later we got our appetizers. My wife said her salad was awesome. She knows her salads. My clams casino was wrong. Why do you ask? Let me say I worked as an executive chef for many places all at least 4 diamond. THERE ARE NO BREAD CRUMBS IN CLAMS CASINO period. OK so my wife finished her drink and after waiting 10 min and no sign of a waiter my wife put her empty glass by the edge of the table hoping the waiter would get the hint. Unfortunately the hint he got was to quickly pick it up without asking if she would like another. Then about 10 more minutes out came our dinner by a food runner. My wife’s meat sauce was burnt. My dish was so greasy I couldn’t eat more than 3 bites. Then the waiter shows up to ask how’s everything. We were disgusted at him and the gen z wanna be’s as they were shouting over each other. He finally brought another drink for my wife and we were happy to get away from this disaster.

Me and a few friends went last night the place is exactly the same which was refreshing always loved the atmosphere!! For what they charge for the carpaccio it was very disappointing only three pieces of bruschetta I then got my 47$ filet I got the Gorgonzola butter it came in a stainless steel little ketchup cup hard as a rock!!! I would expect this at Texas Roadhouse not a higher end restaurant!!!

We just enjoyed a delicious meal at Diorio tonight. Calamari and a chopped salad were both excellent appetizers as were the Veal Diorio and papardelle Bolognese entrees.
