My friends and I come here to get dinner often because the atmosphere is great. The service is very hands-off but friendly–I think this is a good thing, though. No one pressures anyone to pick something off the menu quickly and we can eat at our own pace. It’s nice being able to just order when you want. Also, the menu is extensive. I recommend supporting the Hitching Post.

New owners have taken a step back. Came in and advised the owner we had a group of 20 people coming, had called about a week prior. Claimed she didn’t know what we were talking about. Took a very long time to serve few customers at the bar. Had an attitude the duration of my visit. Additional staff came in later and we’re also slow and less then interested in helping customers. Definitely a step down from previous ownership. Food is same as before, good with good portions and alcohol is as expected. No other food options in area.

I used to go here with my parents as a young kid, when it was owned by Red Huber. He had a Christmas party with candy and toys and photos with Santa Claus and, for me even better, Smokey Alston. The current version is excellent in its own way, with an outdoor music venue. The food was amazingly good.

Positively THE best fried pickles I’ve ever had! Thin, crispy and perfectly done. It was my first time back in years and Brittany created me a delicious Cucumber Mule that I’ll be thinking about until the next time I go in. Friendly and quick service, great conversation and amazing drinks & food. Will definitely be back!

We stopped here for a change from the Miami college bars while visiting our daughter and had a great time!!! The owners are wonderful and fun people, the live music was great and we enjoyed the food and drinks too! We will definitely go back next time we are in Oxford!
