Banana Leaf is under new ownership. I was pleasantly surprised they now offer a breakfast menu. I was so impressed with my meal that I ate there three times in one week!

Apparently they are under new management…and the food price is NOT worth it. $64 for 3 plates of noodles and two Thai Iced Teas. Not bad right? Except for I have HALF the amount of food I used to order. Not sure if this is the “lunch portion” but why are they charging more for less food? Not good.

I curiously stumbled in the Banana Leaf Restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the service, meal, and atmosphere of the facility so much that I returned the following day with relatives and friends.

This was my first time here so can’t speak to the quality before but found the food to be mediocre and incredibly overpriced. Curry seemed to use a blanket of spice to cover up a lack of flavor depth. Fried chicken was just OK, but with all the amazing fried chicken spots in the East bay certainly not worth $20. Fresh rolls were just wrapped lettuce.

Overall, it was a great experience. Small, cozy and charming space. Friendly staff. My Crab Cakes benedict could have used a little more love. We had to wait a little while before the Mimosas started flowing. The Thai French Toast is definitely worth trying. Would/will return.

Banana Leaf restaurant was my favorite Thai restaurant but the changes under new management changed all that. For example, prices are now 30%+ higher (Pad Basil, now Spicy Basil went from $11.75 to $15.00). My portion was smaller than the previous portion size and no longer chicken strips, now minced chicken. I cannot comment on other dishes except to say some were also renamed.
