Jalisco, Mexico is vastly important to the culinary world. One of the major exports from Jalisco is Tequila. Being a tropic and coastal region of Mexico there are a lot of parallels to Charleston. The farm land and the bounty from the sea are abundant. Pork and Beef are staple in the diet in Jalisco as well. There is a rich history that has lead to a very unique and flavorful cuisine. Jalisco Taqueria & Tequila focuses on fresh local ingredients and pays respect to traditional recipes from Mexico. Enjoy tacos prepared in an authentic manner with fresh locally made tortillas. Enjoy local seafood and local produce. Enjoy a specialty tequila drink, or two. Watch your favorite game or play a game of cornhole or foosball.

I’ve had the birria taco dish twice now – I wish I could say they were good. Instead, I’ll tell you the birria tacos are mind-blowing! These are the best tacos I’ve had in my 67 years, folks! You gotta stop by and try them soon.

I frequent Jalisco with my family as it is one of my favorite restaurants on James Island. The Elote Dip was excellent. The Al Pastor and Carne Asada tacos are a preferred selection by my wife and I. The margaritas were never empty thanks to excellent service by Katie!

What a fantastic experience. From the moment we walked in until we finished our meal, we felt like family. Everyone went above and beyond to ensure we had a great dinner. The tacos were delicious. You can tell they strive to deliver fresh, quality food. Don’t even get me started on the margaritas. I thought I’d died and gone to heaven. The bartender, Melanie, recommended flavors to complement my meal and she absolutely nailed it. We’ve told everyone we know. Looking forward to getting back and enjoying more of their menu. We were sad we couldn’t order it all!!

The food was SO good. My husband and I each got 3 tacos and for appetizers we shared the tamale and the elote dip. I had the mango Margarita which was really good as well. Our waitress was very nice and the food came quickly.

Great food made by Chef Mike and his team, and jalapeño margaritas made by Mel. A great place to have a birthday get together with the kids.

It’s not everyday that you get a new taco place in town, so we got this on the books as soon as we could. Now I’ll preface this by saying I have a very special relationship with another local taco place that still has the best fish tacos around, but this place is wonderful. Everything from the the decor to the fresh made salsa was fantastic. We tried three salsa, each wonderful and unique, and four different kinds of tacos, also great. They also have mezcal, which not that many places around seem to have, so that’s a big bonus. Service was solid, no wait times, and a decent happy hour too.

We tried this place again, one year later & it was so bad we could only eat 1 bite off of each of our plates. I got the 3 tacos & only could take a bite of each one. My husband was the same with the Enchilada. He actually threw up his one bite when we got back to our rental house. If you want, Mexican , please be aware. You want an atmosphere at the bar-then maybe I would try. You can’t go wrong with the basic Margarita or a bottle beer with some chips/salsa. Oh- & the three different salsas we tried as an appetizer wasn’t anything to “write home about”.

My family is sick from eating here. We ordered many different tacos, most had meat that tasted old. We couldn’t finish our meals. Within 2 hours we all vomited. I paid nearly 200.00 and was possibly the grossest food I’ve ever eaten. I hope the health department pays them a visit soon.

By far my favorite part of my vacation! Michael Harvey, the chef and owner, knows what he’s doing and is passionate about his work and vision. Creative, authentic Mexican cuisine. The spicy peach margarita to start! We had the pleasure of trying multiple dishes while sipping on Sotol on the rocks, which I was informed is something between tequila and mezcal. Smooth and perfect complement to this feast of Ceviche, Tamale, my favorite Pulpo (grilled octopus with plantain puree and a delightful bite), carne asada taco, and pork shank over rice. Topped it all off with churros. All heaven on a plate! Why can’t every day be this good? Also, impeccable knowledgeable servers and bartenders. Up there with best dining experience I’ve had! Thanks to Michael Harvey & staff!

Possibly the best Mexican I’ve ever had. The enchilada is spectacular. I had the Verde, my son had the rojo, both were amazing. The tacos were excellent and the Mexican street corn is truly special.
