My 86th ‘cue stop in Texas, and the 371st on a nationwide journey covering 35 states to date, is a restaurant well off the interstate that is well regarded by the local community, and with good reason. $23.37 purchased a quarter pound of fatty brisket, a jalapeno cheddar sausage, and sides of elote and squash/zucchini. A refillable soft drink (unsweetened tea) rounded out the order. The brisket features moist and tender meat with exceptional bark. This is a great bite– and don’t hesitate to ask for a bit of burnt end. This is meat candy! The sausage has great balance and snap. It is truly one of the best of its kind to be found in Texas. Both sides were dead on. And as is so often the case in the universe of small town BBQ, the price point is more than fair. Make an effort to get here, and do try and beat the noontime crowd. It’s worth the effort; owner and pitmaster Jonathan Wilson is putting out a product that rivals the best in The Lone Star State.

Tried JW’s for first time while in Jacksonville. The chopped BBQ brisket sandwich was fantastic. However, if you want a BBQ spud, get there early as they were already out at 1pm. Definitely will try it again.

When you find yourself in the charming town of Jacksonville, Texas, JW’s Barbecue is a must-visit destination for all barbecue enthusiasts. The brisket, is nothing short of amazing. Slow-cooked to perfection, the tender meat bursts with smoky flavor that will leave you craving more with each bite. It’s an experience that will make you appreciate the art of barbecue.

Have visited J&W twice now. LOVE this place! They know how to make a chopped brisket sandwich!! I usually will not eat at BBQ restaurants b/c my husband’s BBQ can’t be beat. But, but my mom and dad strong-armed me into going. I will definitely return! Service and staff were also outstanding!

Working out of town in Jacksonville. Stopped in after reading the reviews. Owner gave great recommendations on what to order. Had the brisket, sausage, and squash. It was all AMAZING!! Squash was gone before I left the parking lot. Got regular and spicy bbq sauce that they make in house. Delicious! Im a fan and recommend stopping by!

I had the brisket, it was amazing, tender and juicy. It is some of the best that I have ever had. I also had beans and greens, very tasty.

Okay, so I had to build my own plate.. cost me $25.00.. I got 3 ribs and 2 slices of beef with 2 sides that came in a cup.. The men’s where really nice and helpful which I did appreciate it… but the food wasn’t good. Everything was greasy except the mac and cheese.. I got the sweet ribs I only tasted a hint of sweetness. No bread came with the meal… I did like that the ribs were tender, beef could have been cooked just a little bit longer.. overall the experience was alright but unfortunately I won’t be returning .
