First time eating here and it honestly was so good I had to leave a review. I had fried rice, steamed vegetables, bourbon chicken and jalapeño chicken. The food was fresh, very tasty and I got enough for 2 people for $9.99. Customer service was great. 10/10 will be back!

What a bummer! I had to run an errand or two at the mall and stopped by for a quick bite, and the food was waxy, tasteles, and way overpriced. I’m vegetarian, so I ordered some lo mein, mixed vegetables, and green beans, a combo I normally like at most Chinese buffets and fast food places, but it was so terrible I couldn’t have choked more than a few bites down if I wasn’t absolutely starving. It’s mall court food, so I wasn’t exactly expecting gourmet cuisine or anything, but Chinese food is supposed to be a guilty pleasure, and this was not that. Plus my three little sides and a drink cost me $16. They charged me more for my veggie sides than what they charge for a meat-based combo unless my drink was $5. Either way, that’s crazy, especially for terrible food. I remembered it being kinda good back in the day, too. Not sure what happened. The portions were huge and the staff was nice, but not worth it for something I didn’t enjoy. :/

This place never disappoints. Always service with a smile and fresh hot food. Let’s not forget the portions. You get your moneys worth and leave with your tummy satisfied. Always enjoy eating here in the mall. They work hard and do circles around the other food places. Great job!

I ordered the Bourbon chicken plate with rice and egg roll. It was pretty good and a decent price.

I did -2 stars on atmosphere simply because it’s the mall and it’s not something that they can help. So please don’t take anything away from them because of that. We love Max Orient my kids, beg to go there more than any other place, we live an hour away and will drive there just the food. It is cheaper than most places but the quality is always high, I have never once had a bad experience there, and the amount of food I get is absurdly awesome. I have introduced my friends who now say I ruined bourbon chicken in Peking chicken for them from any other place I know exactly how they feel, I tried finding a place closer to me, and while I’ve had some good experiences nothing compares. If you ever go and there’s a line it is a hundred percent worth the wait in the line goes really fast the food is always fresh. 10/10, 100% recommend.

I have eaten at Max several times before. I really liked their spicy bourbon chicken. Today, I was shopping at J-mall and decided to purchase spicy bourbon chicken;however, it didn’t look the same. I asked about it and was given a sample. It wasn’t the usual flavor;therefore, I asked what their spicest chicken. Karen replied,”Go get a bottle of hotsauce.” I was SHOCKED and asked her to repeat her answer. She did, and her answer was the same. I controlled myself and Thanked her for losing MY BUSINESS!!!

Credit where it is due: in an area where crime has taken its toll, this quick service restaurant probably tops the list of reasons for anyone nearby to venture out to the Jefferson Mall. The food is fine; the servings are large. The staff is friendly, but some policies in place by management are head scratchers. I recently ordered Bourbon Chicken and Crab Rangoon. As my order was “to go” I asked if the Crab Rangoon could be placed in a separate container as the staff on my past few visits has put it in the box with the bourbon chicken where it becomes soaked from the copious amount of liquid from the bourbon chicken. I was expecting the Crab Rangoon to be accommodatingly placed in wax paper, or other bag or small box. Instead I was told I would be charged extra for my request, as though the Crab Rangoon was not being included in the meal I was paying for. I said never mind and left the Mall without any food.

Look the food! Family ran. Been coming here for far as I can remember! 15+ years. Watched the owners children grow up! Always get massive amounts of portions! Came all the way from downtown Louisville to Jefferson Mall just to enjoy it! Recommend it to anyone that enjoys Chinese food!

No way is this. Food is good as it used to be. You get smaller portions. The price has gone way up and the quality of food has went way down.
