Dropped by El Compa Tacos to meet family last night. This was some of the best Mexican food we’ve had. There are plenty of places you eat that the food never lives up to the photo advertisement for the dish. This restaurant is definitely an exception. I don’t need to add a picture of the food – everything we got looks like the photos. I would recommend El Compa to anyone visiting Cookeville. The plates we all ordered were so tasty and plentiful. I had their El Compa plate and had some of the best prepared shrimp I’ve ever tasted. I’d go back just for that! Prices are comparable or less than expected. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is authentic. Go here and experience some great food!

A bit run down. However, that did not determine the quality of food & service. The street tacos were fantastic & authentic. I watched into the kitchen while waiting for my to-go order & they ran a clean one. The staff used the hand-washing sink frequently & they all knew their parts well. It seemed to run smoothly & effectively in harmony with the pace needed to push out orders.

Most authentic Latin American cuisine you can get in Cookeville. The chicken quesadilla was exceptional and the steak taco, while small and only topped with onions and cilantro, was great as well. The Camarones a la Diabla (special) was delicious, but prepared for one of the hottest meals of your life. I will be coming here again.

AUTHENTIC!! Thought I was in Baja again. Who’d have thought there would be such a magnificent authentic restaurant next to a gas station! I am so glad someone from work told me about them. Now we are all addicted. From their tacos to their sandwiches to their quesadillas. Everything is extremely good, authentic, and freshly cooked. I can’t recommend them enough. They are fantastic. They have just opened up their dining room and have about 10 tables. YOU MUST TRY IT.

Stopped at this gem on our way back from Big South Fork NP. Employees were following Covid-19 CDC Guidelines which we appreciated! The food was so delicious. I ordered one Tamal with Champurrado (Hot Chocolate, but better). Then I ordered the Pollo Loco which was just what I needed after a day of hiking. Husband ordered 4 tacos 2 Pastor (with pineapple) & 2 Asada. I know it’s a good place when he tells me to get him a second order. Don’t let this place being attached to a gas station stop you!
