Boyfriend and I made a last-minute reservation here for date night. From the moment you walk in the hotel, the ambience is absolutely gorgeous. The hostess was very polite and our waiter was extremely attentive.

Solid steakhouse experience. I think the decor & service could be pushed up a notch or two. We did the restaurant week menu to give this place a shot as we’ve never been here before. We did Market at the Edition earlier in the week. Though the service here was far below what we experienced at Market we found the food to be much more flavorful. The beef carpaccio & wedge salads are a must have. The filet was cooked well & both the sauce & veggies that complimented it were wonderful. I’m a huge carrot cake fan so seeing that for dessert was a definite factor too. I found their take on carrot cake to be amazing. The cake was elevated in a way I hadn’t seen before & really made for an amazing end to a great meal. Definitely recommend the carrot cake. We’d come back here just for the food.

Great night at Driftlight. The French onion soup was out of this world. Everything was perfect except steak was under cooked. We had to send it back and it was burnt when returned. It was super packed and it has an amazing atmosphere. It is located in the lobby for the JW Marriott and the lobby was bustling with people and the lobby bar was packed. Fun to be in a place being enjoyed by so many. The margaritas at the bar are the best. For desert we had the carrot cake. All I can say is wow. It was great.

We discovered Driftlight when we arrived to the hotel in the lobby area by the lobby bar. We originally booked “Six” their casual restaurant on the 6th floor but food this much more appealing. Good for us, but bad for them the restaurant was empty before game time at Amalie Arena located around the corner. Not sure this will always be the case moving forward.

Decent but over-priced bar food at the Driftlight Lounge, which is to be expected at this luxury JW Marriott. Sat at the bar for a late lunch and opted for the Bistro Salad ($14) with blackened grilled shrimp ($12 extra). Though they were large and delicious, there were only 3 shrimp added to the salad, so it felt a bit like a ripoff. The rest of the salad was yummy and decadent: mixed spring greens topped with scallions, tomatoes, bacon, blue cheese covered in a healthy amount of dressing. Avocado was not included, even though it’s on the online menu.

Amazing desserts! By far the best carrot cake I’ve ever tasted, with a subtle hint of goat cheese in the creamy layers of frosting, and of course enormous clouds of fluffy, toasted meringue! The nutella Basque cheesecake was very good too; I’m not usually a big fan of cheesecake, but this one was perfectly creamy on the inside and accompanied by blood orange compote and an enormous mound of the most incredible sweet and salty honey-soaked fried potato curls! Sounds like a weird combo, I know, but trust me on this one! Can’t wait to return to try more.

Went here on a business trip, so budget wasn’t an issue. However, the price point and portion sizes was unacceptable. $24 for a four shrimp cocktail? Weak. My coworker’s grilled shrimp were obviously pre-grilled hours before eating and very dried out. The $16 wedge salad was the size of a half grapefruit but tasted alright. The salmon was average, at best. The halibut was said to be very underwhelming by my coworker. Won’t be back.

After visiting the Driftlight bar in the JW for dinner 4 days in a row, safe to say this spot is a winner. The drinks are creative & delicious (personal fav is the Farmer’s Margarita), the food, top tier especially for a hotel lobby (loved the salads, grouper tacos, ahi, & key lime pie) & the service is fantastic. Super impressed and excited I found this spot for my 5 day stay, stuck in Tampa. Thank you Brooke, Tony, & Brandi. You made my time in Tampa much more enjoyable!

Nice atmosphere and service. My husband’s steak was “good” but not great. I had the chicken and frankly, the chicken-on-a-stick that I got at the state fair was better. This chicken was dry and a bit tough. The carrot cake is excellent, so stop in for dessert.

Usually stay at the Marriott Water Street, but I was interested in trying the new JW Marriott. Found the Driftlight Lounge on the first level and it did not disappoint. Craft cocktails were amazing! Had the deviled eggs and the chips and dip; highly recommend.
