This “was” our favorite steakhouse. However, my daughter wanted to take her dad out for father’s day and buy him a steak. Our party consisted of my husband, myself, my daughter (18), my son (14) and two grandchildren both under the age of 5. Our waitress was very accommodating and did a great job but when we received our check at the end, it was 205.00. Only three of us actually had a steak. The manager said their policy is to add gratuity to any table with 6 or more. That 18% gratuity. In other words 31.00 tip. I was floored! We weren’t warned of this policy at all and to count the two grandchildren as a party of 6 is obsurd. We aren’t wealthy and only go there on special occasions because it is VERY expensive. The manager did take the gratuity off our check but the price to feed a family of four and two children’s menu meals still came to a grand total of 174.00. That’s with no appetizer folks! The steaks were good but not that good. After that experience, we won’t be back. The moral of this review, if your pockets are deep and you have money to throw away…..eat at Conastoga Steakhouse.

My favorite food to eat is steak and I have lived in Hattiesburg for over 8 years now and today was my first experience at Conestoga (I heard it was over priced and not very good). I went with my grandparents and husband. Our food took over an hour to get and there was only ONE other table seated at the time. Also, my husband ordered their french onion soup and it was a joke. The cheese sunk to the bottom of the bowl, there were hardly any onions in it and instead of bread they used CROUTONS! We finally got our food and they told my grandfather that they burnt his catfish so they started a new batch and it would be right out. 15 minutes later he got his food. I ordered my steak medium rare and it came out fully cooked with no pink what so ever. I sent it back and told them to cook me a new one and the second steak was cooked correctly. I expected more from a steak house and I was very VERY disappointed. Any positive reviews for this restaurant must be done by their employees. Next time I want a steak, I am going to Cotton Blues or Donanelles. SAVE YOUR MONEY PEOPLE!
