I stopped coming back from the beach. The birria tacos were okay but not super flavorful. To note they don’t give you tap water and will only charge you for a bottle. Food did not all come out at the same time.

Anna and I recently discovered this wonderful Mexican restaurant, Blue Habanero, located on W. Sylvania Avenue, across from Joe’s Farm Market, in Neptune City, in very close proximity to Shark River Hills. From our respective past experiences of having eaten Mexican food from Mexico, California and Arizona, we are very critical and knowledgeable of what constitutes authentic Mexican Cuisine. To our delight, we found Blue Habanero to be like a dinner vacation reminiscent of our best Southwestern dining experiences. Everything about Blue Habanero from its “La decoración de pared” Mexican decor, its pleasant, soothing Mariachi music, and the gracious hospitality by which we were greeted by Edwin, our server, gave us the cultural feeling of being immersed in, and transported to, “México antiguo.” Of course, the sine qua non of what determines the popularity of any restaurant is the quality of its food. For our entrées, we both selected the Chicken Quesadillas from a tremendous variety of menu options that will be tried in subsequent visits. The Quesadillas were perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. The quality, freshness, and purity of the ingredients used in the very generous portions was unmistakable in the tasting. It is well-known that Mexican Cuisine is among the healthiest of all food offerings, and Blue Habanero’s very affordable and reasonable prices means that Anna and I will be returning here often.

The ambience is very cozy, and it was very clean. Although the food took a while, we knew it was being cooked fresh and when it came, it was absolutely wonderful. The flavors were perfect and everything tasted great. My sister ordered the enchiladas but she found the sauce to be too sweet (she didn’t know it’s made with chocolate) so they kindly replaced her dish. I got the flautas combo, and the others got the fish tacos and the burrito. Everything was very affordable, near the $15 range for pretty big servings. All of us had a wonderful experience and we will definitely return. Great customer service, great food, great place overall, so this restaurant deserves 5 stars!
