Our favorite Middle Eastern food in Milwaukee. Owned and operated by Syrian refugees, we used to get their Damascus Tour appetizer platter as takeout during the pandemic. The staff are very friendly and the dishes delicious.

Food was absolutely amazing! So fresh and flavorful. We arrived right as they were opening so the service was a bit slow but well worth the wait. I will definitely be returning and recommending to friends.

Delicious Middle Eastern option. Not much ambiance but food is so tasty. Be patient, all food scratch made with limited staff.

Damascus Gate is absolutely fantastic. The food is excellent, especially the chicken, hummus, falafel…you can’t really go wrong. The food tastes exactly as it does in the Levant. Expect a simple ambiance without frills if dining in, with warm service and cheap prices. You can fill your table with options for several adults for $50. I highly recommend DG to anyone looking for Middle Eastern food as an authentic, delicious option, and some of the best in the Milwaukee area. Give it a try!

First coming in, it’s very welcoming. One of the few restaurants that offers orange soda!! Damascus Gate offered a large variety of food. They even made a custom order for me when I told them I wasn’t hungry. They served me the BEST DISH! It was so delicious, I had never tasted anything like that in my life. They had yellow rice underneath little chunks of mildly spicy chicken and strips of lamb (sorry about the picture, everybody dug in before I could get a good one haha) 11/10 would come here again. Service was amazing.

The restaurant lays in the heart of historic Milwaukee. It’s cozy, nicely decorated. When you enter the world of Damascus from the music to the pictures and the smell of delicious food. The owner welcomed us warmly and the service was very quick and nice. The Yalngi ( Vegan stuffed grape leaf) melted in my mouth and I didn’t even need to chew it. The Kebbah (a thin layer of bulgur stuffed with finely ground lean meat with Middle Eastern spices, then fried) reminds me with my mom’s Kibbah and there were the best I ever had in a restaurant. The Kabab, rice and hummus were yummy.

So I like trying new food and stumbled across this gem of a restaurant by accident. While a pretty underwhelming interior, the service and food more than made up for it. Seemed family run, and the mother was super sweet taking my order. The young son put a smile on my face when he took me by the elbow to show me where the bathroom was. The falafel sandwich was amazing with a side of tahini and some sweet pickles. The salad was interesting with pita chips on the top. My only complaint was the dressing was too strong and I found I couldn’t eat a lot. It’s kind of an intense balsamic vinegar dressing. But that could be traditional. The bottom line is to go and enjoy. I will be back. Oh, I forgot rosewater lemonade amazing.
