Established in 1899, Dante & Luigi’s is one of the oldest existing Italian restaurants in the United States.
Situated in the heart of the Italian Market district, it was once the destination of Italian immigrants arriving in Philadelphia. Unable to speak English, they arrived on the docks with the name of the restaurant written on a scrap of paper and pinned to their lapels. They were given lodging in the upstairs rooms and work in the restaurant.
Dante & Luigi’s retains much of the same atmosphere as it had in the past. Housed in two converted town houses, the charm of yesterday still exists. The cuisine is a well-balanced mix of homemade, “Old World” specialties, along with delicious fresh seafood and exceptional daily specials.
Old-world Italian cuisine like red-sauce pasta & osso buco served in 2 converted townhouses. Based on 809 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.7 stars. Price $$$

Love this place ! Carla ! Phil and Frank pr my go to people when I frequent this place , osso Bucco is my signature plate here no one in Philly can do it better. Be prepared to wait because one can’t rush the way it’s made. Order an appetizer the tomatoe salad is a win the seafood risotto too is equally as good you will not be dissatisfied with anything on the menu.

We really enjoyed dining in at Dante & Luigi’s for the first time last month. Service was incredible and so was the food. We ordered so much that we ended up taking half of our entrees home. If you’re in the South Philly area you have to give them a try! Plus pay with cash for a 10% discount. Would highly recommend the baked lasagna too

Outstanding old school Italian dinner. All of the food was terrific but the gnocchi and the meatballs were the big winners, as was the caprese salad. But everything was great. Highly recommended if you like Italian food. And there’s valet parking.

Let me just say wow. From the service to the food, the hostess was so friendly as were the other employees welcoming us, I forgot our waiters name but he was amazing. He described everything so well and was also super funny cracking jokes with us. The food itself was honestly to die for, I haven’t had Italian food this good ever. My expectations were definitely met and we can’t wait to come back next time we’re visiting Philly.
