Aloha Cafe opened in March 2019 in downtown Asheville. The vision was to bring a new idea of what could be done by combining modern Asian-inspired recipes with traditional Hawaiian poke along with new takes on classic Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches and fresh spring rolls.

My husband and I disagree on the rating of this place. He wants to give it 4 stars, 3 for me. The restaurant is tiny and unassuming, but good for lunch. We had the Dragonbowl Z, a traditional bahn mi, and a milk tea boba. The tuna in the poke was super fresh and I loved the flying fish roe on top! The rice was a wee bit sticky, but not bad. Where my husband and I disagreed was the bahn mi. The pork is not marinated and grilled crispy like all the other bahn mis I’ve had and there was less cilantro and bean sprouts, but deliciously thick jalapeño slices. Husband prefers it this way, but I missed my crispy pork. The prices are fair, though, so I would go again.

I hate to be this person bc I never leave bad reviews. However, the food I got is inedible. It does not smell good and the spring rolls I got are Slimey and completely fell apart. Not to mention the shrimp is slimey and mushy. You can tell they weren’t made fresh which is a bummer. As I’m leaving idk if their cup lids don’t fit but my bubble tea I got spilled everywhere in my car bc the lid wouldn’t stay on and leaked everywhere. I halfway through my drive had to put it in a new cup bc I couldn’t pick the cup up without it spilling everywhere and on myself. Probably won’t be back which is such a shame.

Great quality food for a little hole in the wall! Loved the garden bowl. Flavors were delish, food was nice and fresh, the portions were unfortunately a little small for me. I left still hungry. Also got a yummy pineapple boba tea. Will be coming back!

WOW! So good, great quality ingredients. Incredible price for the amount of food you get. I order the volcano bowl and its the first time I’ve needed more rice in a poke bowl! The bowl was packed with all their delicious ingredients. Their boba tea was delicious as well. I will be coming back to try everything off their menu!

Bad boba along with a rancid smell inside the building. Also seemed unsanitary; not properly cleaned routinely. Not what you want when purchasing and consuming fish. My bowl looked good though. I did a smell and temp check on that. Tasted good too. Want to support this business because I’ve lived in Hawaii and Asheville needs good fresh grindz. Honest though too.
