Very good place to eat papusas. They are made fresh when you order them so they are hot n tasty. I was hungry so I ordered more than what I needed but made some good leftovers

This place is legit, fabulous food, amazing employees, clean. The only reason I gave it a four star is that it is in a strip mall in a suburb so there is no going out vibe, but the food is the real deal. It’s a little expensive, but they have lunch specials for $8.50

Despite the other reviews, my food was bland and very mushy. I couldn’t finish the the last pupusa. I am vegetarian so maybe the meat options are better considering thr other reviews. Service was nice but ambiance of the place was very basic.

Excellent food, friendly service, and great prices make El Gustito well worth a visit. The pupusas are delicious. The variety of fried plantain dishes make for tasty eating as well. The dining room isn’t large, but the location is especially accessible for take out. That said, it isn’t easy to see from the road. You’re more likely to notice HyVee and Hobby Lobby, which flank it on the sides.

Although I admittedly have never tried pupusas before, these were delicious, as were the carne asada, horchata, and atole. El Gustito’s portions were affordable and filling. The restaurant is unassuming and located in a strip mall, but aren’t strip malls where all the best global food is found??

Delicious food, a little different from the usual Tex Mex (which I also love). Can’t wait to go back!

Absolutely terrific place on the Coralville strip. Authentic El Salvadorian food, with the main focus being pupusas, which are like flat pancake-like breads filled with cheese and other fillings. Took my son for a dine-in lunch a few weeks ago and then tonight again for a take away dinner because he has not stopped talking about it since we went the first time. Pupusas are amazing – the cheese is perfectly melted and where it has escaped the bread it fries up nice and crispy. Chicken and pork and other meat fillings are super tasty but the spinach and jalapeño pupusas are also delicious. Horchata and other drinks are tasty including some bottled sodas from El Salvador that i have not seen in the States before. Extremely inexpensive and quite delicious. One to two pupusas is enough to satisfy one person – the first time i got two and a tamal and it was a bit too much food. Next time i may branch out and try their various other meals but it will be hard to pass on the pupusas.

Great food if your into Salvadoran type of food. Great dishes and selections for prices that are great. People are friendly and helpful, very patient as well. You can dine in, take out but not sure about delivery. I always come to order my food and take home extremely hot. Pupusas, tamales and other dishes they sell. I really like it. Coming back soon. Gracias/ Thank you El Gustito.
