Scratch on Lake is an urban, funky burger/sandwich joint with killer mac n cheese. Located in Oak Park on Lake St, we have the same menu as Scratch Kitchen and Lounge in Forest Park, with a larger space, more “restaurant” feel and awesome full bar with specialty cocktails. We also have live music on the weekends and regular Bingo and Trivia nights.
Our goal is to serve our favorites, prepared perfectly from Scratch, never frozen (we joke that we only freeze ice. Oh, we make that too).
Based on 666 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.1 stars. Price $$

The aesthetics are cool and there are a lot of fun activities and weekly specials there. The Buffalo Mac and Cheese was spot on for the buffalo taste, but it was extremely watery, even after cooling down. The burger was delicious and the drink was on point!

The Texas burger was so good that I almost forgot to take the picture. My first visit, everything was awesome! Usually not a fan of pretzel buns, but this was the exception. Excellent beer and cider selection, beautiful location, and great service from sweet people. A new local favorite.

We were sat quickly and all the staff was very kind to us! We enjoyed that while the staff was prompt and on top of everything, they didn’t hover over our table. The appetizer we got was SO incredible. We got the pretzel bites with cheese and I would go back simply for this. Amazing!! Of course I didn’t get a photo of them. But then I got a pulled pork sandwich and my sister got the Texas burger and holy moly, they were both incredible! Lovely atmosphere, great reasonably priced food, and friendly staff! We will definitely be back!

I have tried to get the pulled pork “taco” served on Naan bread twice. The first time it was at the restaurant, and I was given a sandwich. After telling the waiter I had requested my pulled pork on Naan bread, I was told a taco was just the name and it could be served on bread. Nobody try to explain what a taco is to me please, you can tell by my name that I know what a taco is, and a taco is not a sandwich. The second time I ordered for delivery and received three pulled pork tacos on corn tortilla. Again, I know what a taco is and am aware I was given tacos, but the order specified NAAN bread, which I have been intrigued about trying for quite a while now. I am aware negative reviews generally get an answer regarding short staffing. The first time I ordered I looked at reviews and decided not to leave one because I understood, we were going through hard times during covid. After the second time, however, I needed to say something. Pulled pork is good, but I feel like the Naan bread would have made it very interesting. I guess I will never know.

Great to see that they have a lenten menu on Fridays. The service was very attentive. It was very open and not crowded when we got there. It was packed full by the time we left. I reccomend the Nice Leggs and the truffle parm fries.

First time visiting, early afternoon. The host lady was polite and friendly. Tristan served us and he was polite, respectful, kind and helpful. The burgers and fries were tasty, the chicken strips were soft and delicious, the ranch sauce was a plus. The place looked clean overall. The atmosphere indoors was calm and peaceful, the music helped set the amiable mood. We liked the fact that Tristan and a fellow waiter asked us if everything was okay, but weren’t nagging. Hope to go back soon!

Being honest, took 10 minutes to be seated on a Wednesday night, restaurant was half full. 30 minutes before anyone took my order and Apparently didn’t even know I hadn’t been served or even checked I on, and then the food was just average. From Da South burger had a weird flavor profile in a bad way. 1st time here, probably won’t come back. Nothing against the staff but the manger probably needs to check in on the quality of service and coordination. They did give me 20% off without asking in the end.

Was there a couple weeks ago. Food was as good as you would expect for a bar. The tzatziki fries were my favorite thing. Also had some mac n cheese with pulled pork, and the cubano. I would be a regular if I lived in Oak Park for sure.
