My husband and I were in town for a weekend getaway. We enjoy eating at locally owned restaurants. The unique menu caught my eye. I had the hanger steak while my husband had the duck breast. Everything I ate and drank was delicious. Hands down one of the best food experiences we’ve had. The atmosphere was great and the staff was wonderful. It was worth every penny!

Our first experience at The Appalachian was earlier this week for our wedding anniversary. We researched for the perfect place before we started our trip and made reservations online. This restaurant is located in downtown Sevierville, TN and it has both indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant walls and ceiling are painted black, the tables and chairs are a natural wood and the walls have stunning, colorful and creative artwork adorning the walls. One of the pieces of art has hidden or not so hidden faces of Mickey Mouse throughout it. There is a separate Bar room and a large dining room featuring generously spaced out tables. This restaurant feels like they are more focused on the dining experience rather than higher volume. The menu features a nice selection of great options to choose from and we selected Grilled Baguettes ($12) which have smoked onion goat cheese, confit garlic and sun dried tomatoes. This was a perfectly portioned and full flavor appetizer. We loved this.

While in Sevierville, we stopped in several of the better bars for a drink to see how they compared. The Appalachian and Seasons 101 both made outstanding drinks. Both have a large bourbon selection. Tonight, I went for a Martini after a week on the bourbon trail. However, our bartender was great, and she gave me a couple of samples of bourbons to try. She provided great service and was very friendly. We will definitely be back.

The only reason why I am giving this place 5 stars is because I cannot give them any more!

Overall, this is a very good restaurant if you want a nice steak dinner on wood fire grill. Service was awesome. Kept our waters filled at all times. The cocktails are crafted to perfection with amazing smoke flavor, we got the smoked old-fashioned. They have a lot of options for whiskey, which is a plus if you’re traveling with someone who enjoys their bourbon. The food was very tasty as I mentioned before you will not be disappointed with any of the selections we had steak dry aged. The atmosphere was good, but it could use a little sprucing up to make it a little bit more of a high and full feeling restaurant lotta bear spaces, and there are some guess that didn’t adhere to a suppose of dress code. If you’re traveling with someone who needs gluten-free options, they got you covered. There were a ton of gluten-free options. Derick, the chef, very pleasant gentleman and shares recipes if he ask him what they were. The last part it ain’t cheap. But either is high-quality product.

I have mixed feelings about my experience my wife and I had at this restaurant. We were ‘walk ins’ and when we walked in my wife told to the hostess that it’s my birthday. Then we ordered our food I ordered the King Salmon and my ordered the Trout. My dish was delicious full of flavor and rich. On the other hand the Trout was extremely salty. My wife knows I hate changing dishes so she suffered through. At some point during the meal my asked the staff “are you guys doing anything for birthdays” and he answered with a wink maybe??

Wow. If you are looking for the best food, service & atmosphere in the smoky mountains, The Appalachian is the place. My wife and I are visiting for our 1 year anniversary and after MUCH Google/review searching we decided on this restaurant for our celebratory dinner. We started at the bar and we were not disappointed. Definitely the most unique cocktail menu we’ve seen this week, and the creations are delicious. After being seated with our server Ben we couldn’t decide on the menu choices, so he helped us select the buffalo frog legs as appetizers and the elk loin & lamb chops for entrees. We had asked about the shrimp & grits we’ve read so much about in other reviews, but it is a summer item so we went with Ben’s recommendations. The frog legs are dynamite. Perfectly tender and smothered in a finger-licking buffalo sauce you’ll want to buy in a gallon jug. The entrees were cooked to perfection, the elk was UNBELIEVABLE!!!! And to our immense surprise, the chefs were able to make the shrimp & grits!! One of the chefs came out to talk to us and is obviously a master of his craft. Ben said it best “like listening to a Wizard describe magic” A++++!!!! The manager was also incredibly attentive during our meal, checked on us several times and shared in our excitement over our experience. We had to take dessert to go (the cobbler and cheesecake ) so we haven’t tried them yet.

Great Atmosphere and excellent food. I got the Hanger Steak and my boyfriend got the aged New York strip, both cooked perfectly. After a little mishap with the Bone marrow the manager came over and took care of everything. At the end they surprised us with a dessert trio! Absolutely fantastic and will be back.
