This is a staple to the Hartford area. My dad was going here for their meatball grinders when he was younger and still goes. Obviously has passed his love of their grinders on to others. The portions are out of this world. Although pricier then some other places, you get what you pay for. A full grinder can easily feed one person for a couple of days. Every so often the bread isn’t up to par which is why I didn’t give 5 stars since it’s happened often…but in terms of flavor, portion, and quality. Definitely recommend!

I had very low expectations, but there is a reason why “don’t judge a book by a cover exists” Franklin giant grinder shop was amazing. I haven’t had many grinder sandwiches myself and this was an amazing first experience. The man operating the shop was super friendly and helpful. Overall, just amazing! I’m from the west, but if I come back to Hartford this will be my go to.

I have never eaten a grinder this good ever. I have been coming here for over 30 years. It would be nice though if the service came with a smile. But, besides that don’t miss this place. It’s the best in CT

Food is good but the service and atmosphere has definitely decline over the years. It just doesn’t seem clean. The ice cream freezer had visible mold, the tables has grease and the place just looked like it was about to close for good.

Always Amazing from back in the 80’s where I had my first Turkey grinder to present. The Customer Service is Awesome and the food Always Amazing. I can’t get enough. I commute from Windsor Locks to the South side of Hartford just for a Franklin Grinder…It’s so Worth it!

The best grinders in CT for my entire life! I go whenever I’m in the South End. Great quality meats and generous portions; their grinders are unmatched in my opinion!

Excellent! I haven’t been there for a while but went yesterday and it was just the way I remembered it. Very good place! Meatball & sausage combo.

Definitely not what they used to be. The roast beef grinders have shrunk substantially. The pices are the same they’ve always been but the food has gotten Smaller. You don’t get that big mountain of red roast beef anymore on your grinder . (SHRINKFLATION)

If you want a great grinder, come here. There aren’t a ton of good options around the Hartford area for sandwiches like this. Try the chicken cutlet. You wont be sorry.

This place has not changed, with the exception of the location, in 45 years. Capicola was awesome. Sandwiches are fat and tasty. Thank you!!!!
