We found this little hidden gem. We are up here for soccer and we always look for mom and pop places. This one popped up and we was in. There is some road work but totally still get there. The staff was amazing keep drinks full. Food portions was big. Food was hot and had wonderful flavor . It is a family owned and great pics on the wall. If you need some BBQ definitely stop in. Several options on menu. Every meal we got was gone. The cat fish is also full of flavor. Thank you for wonderful evening and good conversation.

Although the work in the street out front is daunting right now, don’t let it keep you from trying the excellent bbq we found here! The chopped pork sandwich with coleslaw was super! The meat was chopped, but not too fine, so it was possible to enjoy it’s porky goodness. The slaw was a bit sweet, but complemented the spicy sauce. The potato salad was fresh and tasted just right.

I really enjoyed my visit to Crosstown. I ordered the burnt ends spicy, with coleslaw and fries. Also an appetizer. The appetizer was my favorite part. The catfish was good, while the tartar sauce was great. The onion rings were my favorite anywhere. The coleslaw was sweet and very good. The fries were ok. The burnt ends lacked the heat I was expecting and could use a bit more smoke. The regular sauce is probably more balanced in flavors, from what other patrons were saying. It was good for KC style barbecue in Springfield. The service was very good. The waiter was enthusiastic, knew what he was talking about, friendly, and attentive. I’ll go back and try some ribs next time I’m in the area. It was worth the time and price. I look forward to more onion rings too.

Crosstown BBQ has the best barbecue in SW Missouri. I love my BBQ and try to eat it where ever I’m at. I’ve always loved the Brisket with cheese sauce on it is simply amazing. The owner has his own BBQ that should sold in stores. They have a food trailer on Campbell where the owner was at tonight. This place needs to be recognized.

Was really looking forward to trying out this place, but was so disappointed. $48.08 lighter in the wallet, and didn’t even want to finish the meal. We both tried “The Big Papa”. BBQ beans sounded good as a side, but honestly I think they were VanCamp pork and beans out of a can. The brisket was ok, but the ribs were tough, tasted almost burnt, and the sparingly applied BBQ sauce tasted like something off the shelf at a local store. No refill was ever offered for my drink, even though it was already empty when the food came, and when we were done eating what we could, I had to walk up to the counter to get the attention of one of the guys working that I was ready to pay. Still had to wait several minutes standing there while they were lost in their own world until one finally came up to the register. I am giving two stars only because it reminded me once again how awesome a certain BBQ joint in Aurora is. I work too hard for my money to come here again.

Went in there after moving stuff to get my barbecue cravings satisfied and it did not disappoint! They were all very kind and recommended the Bluto with spicy sauce since I couldn’t make up my mind from the menu lol. Some of the best barbecue I’ve had yet! I devoured it so fast I didn’t get a picture. Will come back again for more!

Good BBQ. Arguably the best In Springfield. Some constructive criticism, STOP Slathering BBQ ON PEOPLE’S ORDERS! BBQ sauce is a condiment and should be applied to taste by the person eating the food.

I really wanted to like this place because of the nostalgia of it, but the food was not par with good BBQ. The burnt ends were chuck roast with some sauce , the Texas toast was white bread right out of the bag and the fries were soggy. Giving 2 stars because the coleslaw was pretty good.

There’s a lot of things to love about this place but the top two are Steve and Gerald. Yes, the food is top notch, the smoky aroma is drool worthy, and the service is fast, but it’s the people who really make this place something special. We felt like family and this was only our first time here…but you better believe it won’t be our last!
