The outside doesn’t look like much but the interior is wonderful. It captures the 1960’s era atmosphere. It has pictures on the wall depicting the history of the area. Great tasty old fashioned burgers. The fries were hot and crispy.

You know, I travel back and forth through this part of the state quite often and I can honestly say I missed this place probably every time I drive through Betty, my business partner actually saw it and we stopped since we had a early stop. I’m really glad we did, this place was great. I had the steak and eggs and it was only $11. The quality was great for the price and we were treated very well. Everytime we travel to northern Nevada from Vegas, we always make sure to skip breakfast at home so we can eat at Mel’s! It’s a very small rural diner, conveniently located right off the 95. I had an omelette with hashbrowns, and my wife had eggs and bacon. The real kicker though is that they include biscuits and gravy as a *side*! The portions were large and filling, and the service was lovely. Only suggestions I would make is to maybe do some light renovations on the bathroom (it’s outside, and not the nicest, but it’s understandable), and maybe consider taking credit cards. We didn’t realize it was cash only until it was time to pay, and thankfully we had some. I know there are merchant fees for cards, but I’d be happy to pay a surcharge for the convenience. Overall fantastic breakfast, you won’t be disappointed!

Stopped by on a quiet Sunday morning for breakfast with 3 others. We enjoyed the diner deco and the food was good. It’s cash only so be prepared. Coffee and eggs with bacon/sausage were good. A bonus was visiting with some local burros in a shady spot outside.

It’s like the old times, the service is quick, the food fresh and abundant and the prices very reasonable. The warmer welcomings seemed to be reserved for long term customers, which I think is ok and honest. Only cash.
