Greeted by the very nice owner, unique atmosphere, however, they were obviously very short staffed. The food took a while and upon arrival the eggs were the only thing warm. Bacon flavorful and crisp, but eggs rubbery, fried potatoes were greasy, toast-well it was toast. The biscuit had a gummy texture and the gravy tasted like flour. The atmosphere made you feel welcome and homey, but the food was not good this morning. The coffee was weak as well I don’t think the homemade biscuits are made in house, just reheated.

This is the closest thing you’ll find to a home cooked meal. Small personal friendly family owned business, maybe a 3 minute drive from I74 and ST RD 9 exit in Shelbyville. Open at 4am and close at 6pm, Mon-Sat. Sunday open from 4am, closes at 2pm. Buffet and salad bar $10.25 salad bar $7.99. Both include homemade dessert bar. If you’re looking for something fancy and luxurious, move on. If you’re looking for good friendly down home service this is your place. Menu’s are in photos

Nice little Mom and Pop place to grab a bite to eat. Very friendly staff and prompt service. I had the tenderloin and onion rings. The tenderloin was, IMO, more of a fritter than a hand cut/hand breaded tenderloin. It was perfectly cooked and toped with home grown fresh tomatoes which were fantastic. The onion rings looked to be house made and were flavorful but slightly undercooked being slightly doughy. The absolute star of the entire meal was the side order of sliders. They were fantastic. They get five stars. If I ever make it back that’s what I’ll get again for sure.

If they are out of something. They don’t let you know. They just give you what they have instead. I would have changed my order had I known toast would be the replacement on a stardust tenderloin instead of a bun.

We had gone out to the casino the other night and it was around 5am when we left there. We both were hungry so it was either Waffle House or Chaperral Cafe. We settled on Chaperral. They open 4am., so hot biscuits & gravy sounded pretty good, better yet, they were real good. I got that with 2 eggs, toast & coffee for $8.00! Judy got a western ommlet, Shirley’s? Food was very good and was quick. If you want a good & hot meal, stop by the Chaperral Cafe. Shirley’s breaded tenderloin has been a Shelbyville staple for years. Wednesday she has fried chicken on the food bar. Some of the best chicken in town too. You won’t be sorry!
