I have been to Basil back in the day when they were in downtown Charleston, now they move to Mt. Pleasant with better space, view, and bar upstairs. The food we order was all amazing and scrumptious. Open the kitchen so you can see how food has been cooked. And wine and cocktails were superb as well. Highly recommend!

If you are used to paying NY prices (ie. not much) for excellent Thai food, you are going to have an unhappy surprise when you go to Basil. It is really expensive, but it’s also excellent. So, if you can get over shelling out about double what you are used to, go. Food is delicious and authentic, the ambiance is nice and the service is good. It’s also family friendly.

Great food in a good location. We visit every time we’re in the Charleston area.

It’s amazing every single time. The appetizers, soups, entrees… total perfection. Fresh ingredients, so many healthy options to choose from, and amazing service from the staff. I love that they also provide a coat rack for you by the host stand (it’s the little things.) One of the best restaurants in Charleston for dinner.

We picked up from Basil while staying in Isle of Palms. The food was delicious though not as spicy as I like my Thai food (but my in-laws were happy with the spice level, so that was really all that mattered). Like the saying goes- Happy in-laws, happy vacation! So if you like heat- ask them to dial it up.

Came for restaurant week and was very impressed! Interesting cocktails and the food was amazing. Don’t think you could go wrong with anything on the menu!

We ordered carryout. I had a satay, soup and beef salad. I was terribly sick after eating the food. Full purge. I called the manager to inform them so that perhaps they could have a look and prevent it from happening to someone else. He proceeded to tell me all the reasons why it could not have possibly been their responsibility. Not one bit of empathy.

This place has fantastic views; I was sitting outside to enjoy their food. The staff service is excellent. The prices are slightly higher than in other areas. Unfortunately, the food is a bit salty for me.

Always looking for a good Thai restaurant, I dined here during a recent business trip. I have nothing materially negative to say about my experience, then I have nothing significantly positive to note either. For the money, I have eaten better Thai cuisine with a more robust menu. Nice location and aesthetic with average Thai food of the restaurant chain variety.
