We go for lunch to this grill every summer we vacation in Ocean Isle!! This year was no different, same great service and delicious food ! The waitresses are always checking in you and keeping the tea filled. Very nice food portions for an affordable price. Get their Chicken Souvlaki!! Greek Pasta salad, yes! Comfortable and relaxed atmosphere always.

We have gone here since we first bought our vacation home 9 years ago. We went for lunch two days ago and we won’t be going back. Ever since the father died, the food and service has been going way downhill. The waitresses pretty much ignored us. To get any service we had to call them over…. And they weren’t busy at all. Only three other tables had people at them. The potato salad was mushy, the coleslaw was too. No diet soda available.

I was surprised to find the Castaway Grill hidden off the beaten path in Ocean Isle Beach. Staff were friendly and food was surprisingly very good. I am sure I will return. I had a delicious hamburger there. For this to be a rather small place, I was happy to find name brand sweeteners on the table as well as large high quality paper napkins. These nice touches are appreciated and rare!

I absolutely loved Castaway. First of all, the service is amazing. They made my little girl feel like a superstar. The food was great, good prices with large portions and a great taste! They didn’t give me a tiny cup of coffee, I got a big cup of caffeine. I needed that. Plenty of parking. Easy location for those on the island. I wish I had the opportunity to visit again but my time in the area was limited. When I’m back in the area though… I’ll be hitting up both breakfast and lunch

Looking at the pics, I’d say this place was very nice 4-6 years ago, but now, It’s a bit run down. Arrived and nobody greeted us, there were several people waiting and they didn’t know if we were supposed to seat ourselves or give a name in for a wait list. Ignored by the staff. One of the waitresses looked TOTALLY miserable! If she’s sick give her the day to stay home. Very sad atmosphere. Finally we got clarification and they said just find a table. Put up a “Seat yourself” sign. So we found the table as soon as we could, and waited so long we cleared and cleaned the table ourselves Finally the waitress came, but the food took forever to come out and when it did it was underwhelming. How can you mess up eggs sunny side up with toast and breakfast potatoes? No toast, cold soggy potatoes (almost half mashed??). When we saw potatoes on the breakfast menu we assumed they would be like home fries. I don’t understand how it gets 5 star reviews, maybe the locals don’t mind poor service, so so food and long wait times. Maybe a few extra staffers would help. But as a visitor I would say skip this place and eat at Sarah’s Kitchen!

Great atmosphere, good service and good food. My wife and I really enjoyed our breakfast and the waitress was really kind. It’s really crowded and the place wasn’t super big, I’d recommend call ahead if you have a big group coming in.

Pancake was good. Bacon greasy and more fat than meat. Popular place for tourist…cheap and convenient. Watched one waitress clean bar over that basket of toast while another constantly complained about health issue. Very disorganized. Sat for 10 minutes before anyone even spoke to me and another 10 before I got a cup of weak coffee. By the time I realized the rest of my order was not coming…breakfast was over. No check out bill so you just stood in line while they figured it out.
