Very nice small restaurant! Don’t let the fact it is attached to the bowling alley dissuade you! It’s actually a quiet, semi-upscale, establishment. I’d have given them 5 stars if the bar had had Campari for my favorite cocktail.

Paul Albano, the owner, has a nice menu. The food is good and the Italian Chicken dinners are very good. They have prime rib a couple times a year which everyone loves. They have several salads which are very good. My only hold back is it is a little pricy. If you come on a prime rib night be prepared for a wait. We had a 30 minute wait last night.

The #1 restaurant for Italian food in the Twin Cities area, yes, but the real delight is the Sunday chicken dinner special. It’s a half chicken fried with two sides and only available on Sunday. Poppy’s always has the best of service. We’re usually in and out in about 45 minutes to an hour when the immediate seating light is on. My favorite menu item is spaghetti and meatballs, the true measuring stick of any Italian restaurant. I highly recommend a trip to Poppy’s at least every now and then.

First of all, if you want to order carry out, you have to sit in a smoke-filled bowling alley. Classy. So we ordered two chicken sandwiches PLAIN. Specifically said no cheese, no bacon. After waiting an extraordinarily long time, was handed a bag and apology for the wait.Got them home and bacon is glued to the chicken with melted cheese. Called and told them what happened, they apologized and said we could come back at a later date and them it was “in the book” that we had two sandwiches coming free. Couple weeks go by, called and was told ” Well… it’s been a while… we have you down for one sandwich”. So I paid for two that were wrong, but get one made correctly as replacement? Hadn’t been there in a long time because my daughter and friends went there before a high school event and they all got sick. This was my experience deciding to try them again. Told them to keep the “free” sandwich. We won’t be back.

I ordered the Cajun seafood pasta and their menu stated shrimp and crabmeat. The flavor of the pasta was good ,as was their service and atmosphere, but the crab was imitation. That’s cod with crab oil for those who are ignorant to this. Fine Italian dining? I think not. They don’t even have lasagna lol.

Good food and worth the visit. Funny thing is, I’ve eaten here 3-4 times and each time, a day or two later, I come down with a nasty cold. I don’t know if the help needs to wear masks or wash their hands more. Other than that, I like eating here.

I went there about 830 ish. I ordered my favorite chicken Alfredo. Well it comes out the chicken was dry and the Alfredo sause was clumpy. So I told my waitress and she took it back and said I will have a new one made for you. So 10 minutes later she comes back but now the chicken has a pick hue in the middle . At this point I was done. I love alfredo bit not from here

It’s 6:30pm in Sunday and they are closed. It says online they stay open til 8pm. We called and they answered and said they decided to closebearly. Pretty crappy. At least hang a sign or something. There were people still eating inside!

I hate to rate Poppy”s so low! I’ve been co.ing here since the ’80’s and you couldn’t get better Italian back in the day. Clearly we aren’t living in THAT DAY anymore. Sad. I still live their Country Salads and as long as I stuck to only ordering a Country Salad, I’d be okay. Our last 3 visits though have been awful. The food is either cold or flavorless or the pasta sauce is watery. My husband’s seafood pasta was fishy and old. We don’t usually complain to the staff but the last time it was so bad we couldn’t eat. They brought us a new dish and it was also just barely edible. Paul the owner came to our table and offered to give us free meals the next time but honestly, it just hurts my heart and I’m afraid nothing will be better. Ugh. I wish the best for them and hope they get back to the standard they used to have!
