How have I not had one of these tenderloins?! I’ve lived in Boone county for 7 years and just found this place. Food is excellent and so cheap.

The grilled tenderloins were 5 star all the way. I nice piece of lightly seasoned pork trimmed of fat and gristle. I like it a bit thicker but it was still delicious and still moist. A nice bun that held together. Add the toms and lettuce and it was a very good sandwich. The breaded tenderloin was a bit greasy. The pork is hand pounded and in some places was thick and juicy and other places too thin for the amount of breading. There were definitely some 5 start bites in there. The onion rings were really greasy. nice thick bits of onion. but could only eat 2 due to the greasiness. The fries were the frozen type but nice with a bit of crisp and soft and potatoey on the inside. Unfortunately everything was in styrofoam so lose half a point for not using something compostable.

I love this place. It’s so unique, and feels like a secret place, and you’re “on the inside”. Amazing food, friendly and fast service – never had a meal that didn’t leave me happy and satisfied. I don’t get here enough, but I’m always glad when I do.

Service is always prompt and friendly! Kind of like a cheers atmosphere without the booze! And Mary in the kitchen does eggs over easy perfectly and the bacon is just wonderfully crisp without being burned and desserts to go are always a good idea 🙂

Food is tasty. We went for breakfast one morning, the door was locked so we called and this mice lady said to come to the door and we can come in. Apparently that’s how you do it. The food is good. Service is good. I spent many a day in here growing up, eating lunch with my mom after she got her hair done. It’s like revisiting my childhood. It hasn’t changed much. Definitely going to go back.

Classic old timey diner in the back of the pharmacy because it was a passion of Max’s (the original pharmacist). Very down to earth, homey feeling place.

It took us a bit to find it (in the back of a little store and pharmacy). Its a cute little diner, obviously well loved by the locals. When we arrived every table was full so we sat at the counter. Menu consisted of your average diner foods. Service was good and we were made to fill at home. The only negative for me is that their sandwiches come with chips which neither of us eat so we had to pay for other side choices (fries/onion rings) which made our meals a little pricer than I would have liked. I’m sure we will be back again.

Max’s Cubbard is a great place to eat. The food, service and prices can’t be beat. I grew up in a small town in Iowa, and it reminds me of home.

It was like stepping back in time when I used to have lunch at the Woolworths. Great food, friendly service and terrific atmosphere. Thank you Mary, Donna and Tawnee for a wonderful lunch experience today. I will definitely visit the next time I am the area.
