My absolute favorite place in the Charlottesville area! The view is absolutely amazing, and cider is the best. Only wish there were andorak chairs to sit in to enjoy the view while drinking a cider. Don’t forget to get apple cider doughnuts and apple bread pudding from the Carter Mountain food stand

My wife and I took a trip up to Charlottesville for our 1 year anniversary and along the way we had to stop at Carter Mountain Bold Rock. I haven’t tired the apple cider IPA and Mary and Chris on the taps were nice enough to let my wife and I taste before we indulged. Fantastic atmosphere and great libations. Don’t forget to pair it with some apple cider donuts!!!!!

First time here and I had a great time! The views were great and I loved seeing Rock flavors I haven’t tried before. The imperial apple is delicious….like a mix of champagne and cider and is 8% alcohol. My boyfriend also enjoyed the Oaked 5th flavor!

We visited earlier this week and about 20 minutes after we arrived, there were torrential downpours. We were stuck inside with two other groups for about 45 minutes before it let up enough for us to go to our cars. During that time, the bartender Mary was incredibly kind, so sweet to our 2 and 4 year old daughters, personable, and calming. She gave us drink recommendations and kept our girls happy with sparkling apple juice. When we were finally ready to leave, she took two trips out to our cars with us with her umbrella to help us get out safely and as dry as possible. We were touched by Mary’s kindness and generosity all evening. Not to mention the gorgeous views and delicious ciders!

This is a great place to stop by if you’re in Charlottesville!! There’s plenty of parking and a lot of outdoor seating. It has a something for everyone. Between the apple cider donuts, baked goods and beer, this is the place to be. You can’t beat the view of the mountains. Come for the beer and stay for the view.
