Spike Speedwell
We have all been there, a family picnic or a pot luck cook out and someone brings a common side dish that would be expected; appropriate for the meal. However, that well-meaning individual modifies the dish with their “creative” spin, using some bizarre seasoning or ingredient. It tastes weird and you are stuck with a big dallop of it on your paper plate, because you wanted to be polite. Now you are looking for that pesky Labrador Retriever, that will eat anything. Or hope that you can get the plate folded up and stuffed in the garbage can, before that person notices your dislike of their creative effort. You got the picture.

This place is a real Oklahoma style family restaurant. Freshly made jalapeño hush puppies, chicken fried steak, catfish, and other great tasting food. I am sure it is locally owned and operated, and you get that vibe from the moment you walk in.

So the good and bad. The good is that the fish was cooked perfect and crispy and not soggy, the food is fresh and homemade. The bad is that the food seemed to lack seasoning but that seems like a fairly easy fix and I hope the owners see this. We had the combo fish platter and I would give it a second chance but if the seasoning issue isn’t fixed I wouldn’t go back. I still give it a 4 based on the home cooking and some people might like the seasoning but again, the fish was cooked perfect.
