This was an AMAZING find. Was looking for a new spot. I read about this restaurant starting in the 70s and being James Beard nominated. The ambiance was fun, all wooden and I felt like I was in my grandmas house. The service was incredible. The server was great at steering us around the menu. The age tofu is a must have. Don’t forget it’s a BYOB!

The best Japanese restaurant in the south jersey area. The quality of the food is very good and fresh. The service is ALWAYS fantastic. And the price is very reasonable. I come here to eat pretty frequently and I will be returning again soon! Highly recommend!

After all the buzz lately about the six Philly chefs being semi-finalists for the James Beard award, there’s also a sushi chef in Collingswood, NJ also being one. Fresh off the trip from Annapolis with a local Maryland Cabernet Sauvignon in hand, this was the perfect opportunity to go back to this New Jersey byob restaurant to enjoy it again knowing how much I’ve liked it before.

Excellent sushi restaurant. The rice is perfectly cooked, rice/fish ratio perfect as well. Strongly recommend for sushi lovers.

Sagami was an great experience from start to finish. The authenticity of the place is truly remarkable; you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to Japan the moment you step inside. The service was exceptional. The staff, all of whom are fluent in Japanese, go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and ensure your dining experience is flawless. Yet, it’s the cuisine that truly takes center stage. Every dish is a work of art, brimming with flavors.

More pricy than expected but the food is good. Eel rice can be a bit overwhelming (too sweet), so avoid it if you can’t handle sweet meat. Awesome staff! The waitresses were really nice and made us experience a home-like dinner

I’ve been to Japan 4 times and I genuinely felt like I was back in Japan when eating here. This is now my new sushi spot even though it’s an hour away from me. They actually make sushi the traditional way too by putting wasabi between the fish and the rice which I feel like most places omit. The fish was super tender and clearly very fresh.
