I just can’t get enough! My favorite is the special bento dinner. Try the tempura shrimp and vegetables with the teriyaki beef. Woo! Every part of the dish is crafted with expertise and to perfection. We came twice in 2 weeks; service was better the first time around, but the food is in a class all its own.

Understated, unassuming, and undeniably delicious! I had lunch by myself and got to sit at the bar. As usual, my food arrived quickly, despite being busy. I had the sushi sashimi combo with a salad. The salad was yummy, a typical side salad that one could expect from a Japanese sushi restaurant. In terms of the sushi, it consisted of perfectly cooked and beautifully seasoned rice, very fresh fish, and generous portions. As always, service was kind and attentive. Overall, the perfect spot for a yummy lunch!

Was visiting Madison for a quick trip and hopped into Takumi for a quick dinner. I think you can tell a lot about a sushi restaurant based on their omakase and they did not disappoint. The quality of the fish and the variety was excellent. It was also nice as an “out-of-towner” to see how friendly the staff was with locals and the variety of different unique rolls I saw coming from the chefs. Would suggest to anyone in the area looking for quality sushi.

Outstanding dining experience. I had the opportunity to visit Takumi’s last weekend with a group of 4. They easily could have sat 6 at the table. I was very impressed with the quality of everything we got. The sushi and hibachi were on another level. It was a little expensive, but I think that was due to our own ignorance with the menu. however, that doesn’t reflect negatively on them. I would 100% visit again, I was very happy with our visit.

This place is a gem in Madison. Delicious, quality sushi in an unpretentious, homey atmosphere. Our go-to spot for sushi, that never disappoints. The staff are friendly and efficient, most of them have been there the entire 8+ years we’ve been going. We love Takumi!

This place genuinely changes your life. It’s my favorite sushi in the entire state. The employees are super kind, the atmosphere is authentic, and the sushi is absolutely delicious. You have to try this!! The hibachi bar is also a wonderful experience to try, we’ve been doing it for years for birthdays and special events. The chefs are so talented!!!

Best deal for quality sushi in town! Even when busy, service is very prompt and friendly! 15 dollars for 3 rolls with soup or salad, what a steal! Also got the jalapeño hamachi appetizer, scrumptious .

We went there for hibachi for my son’s birthday. Everyone was very attentive and made the experience great. We got a complimentary sushi appetizer and the hibachi chef was awesome. We typically go to Sumo but we are able to make reservations at Takumi and with small kids that makes a big difference! We will be back!

Takumi is one of the best sushi spots in Madison. Very legit in their preparation and presentation. The sushi is always super fresh and delicious, and the dining area is small, but very comfortable and homey. Their striped bass sashimi is phenomenal. It’s always busy, so call ahead or be prepared to wait if you have a bigger party. Great place for a nice, but still casual dinner or lunch date.
