I was sad to see this place abruptly close but completely understood after learning that the owner, Jimmy, had personal and family issues that he needed to tend to. The place was closed for several months and just recently reopened. Like many in the neighborhood, I was extremely excited. The place was now being operated by a family member but was still hoping that all the things that made House of Chen great, would still be in place. I was wrong…really wrong.

Ive been going to house of chen since i was a toddler , i love the place. The food is great and homemade , Jimmy and his wife are pretty funny and nice to talk to. I cant wait to go back now that there open again ive really missed the place. It can be pretty expensive and they only except cash but its worth it ! Highly recommend.

So this is food from recently and it taste pretty good per usual. This place only accepts cash. They are more expensive & lack good customer service. I was trying to order good and the guy cut me off more than once until I decided to go with another place. The competitions food needs to be doctored up but they are friendly and the food is on packaged so well it stays hot for long periods of time. I could not deal with the disrespect. It’s not just over the phone but in person as well. For the horrible customer service you’d think the process matched but lo mean & hot braised chicken was 25$!!! It’s probably 12 elsewhere with nicer people taking your orders. They are purely still in business off taste alone. The lady was nicer but you could tell she wasn’t the friendliest either. I random man came in complaining about his order & pricing to me & she just rolled her eyes. This was last week. I’ll eat it again for the taste but that’s only when they’re 75 percent rude instead of the usual 100%! Trust me they do not care! They were the only place open when the entire area was shut down due to a blizzard. I was looking to shop at the beauty supply next door but I wasn’t surprised. Rude & u professional behavior causes a need to be opened during hazardous times.

This is hands down one of the BEST if not the BEST Chinese restaurant in ALL OF St. Louis! I used to live in St. Ann and went here often. Now I live over 30 miles away and still come back to get food from this family owned Chinese restaurant. I have tried many different Chinese restaurants closer to me and the DO NOT COMPARE. The owner is always cordial and prompt.
