Fortunately, a few days ago, my friend and I were able to eat at this special South Indian spot. Due to the popularity of the restaurant, reservations are hard to come by. The food is excellent. The dish with oxtails was my favorite. It was tasty, juicy, and packed with flavor. If you have the chance to get a reservation, you should definitely go!

Had a great first dinner in nyc at @semmanyc. A great experience with really high quality cocktails that you could tell they had spent heaps of time to find complementing flavours. The great thing about this restaurant is that they really kept the integrity of south Indian food and didn’t play unnecessarily to create a new amalgamation. Clear highlights were the sea bass in banana leaf and the tiger prawns. Highly rate this place and excited for many more dinners to come in this amazing city!

Semma excelled in everything across the board from a cozy but lively atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable staff who are pay close attention to detail and check in on diners often, and absolutely amazing food! Everything we tried between drinks, appetizers, and main entrees was perfect and full of flavor and kick! It was the perfect and memorable restaurant for a last sit down meal in NYC.

Incredible experience at Semma. Old fashioned was genuinely one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. Gunpowder dosa was memorable as well and the chicken curry was spiced perfectly. Hope to come back soon!

Semma does not pull any punches. If you’re not a fan of spicy food then this restaurant is not for you. However if you enjoy South Indian cuisine, this is the best I’ve ever had. Everything was delicious, but our favorites were the lamb, sea bass, and the dosa. Also, the cocktails are very unique and interesting. I was really looking forward to this meal and it did not disappoint!

I could never get a reservation here so we tried walking in today and we were able to get a seat outside after 40 mins wait. The two of us enjoyed both the service and the food. The two appetizers (gunpowder dosa + lamb) exceeded our expectations and the mains (Goanese oxtail and lobster tail) were good also.

Wow! Simply wow!! What a fantastic experience! The food at Semma is absolutely delicious! Fair warning – the food is fairly spicy so make sure you get some raita (yogurt) with your food. But don’t let that hold you back – the food is extremely flavorful and every single item we got was spectacular. We got every vegetarian item on the menu and everyone at the table had a different favorite! Mine was the Mangalore Huukosu (cauliflower) and the Mirchi ka Salan with Parottas. All the cocktails were great too! My personal favorites were the Pondicherry Sarakku and the Konkani Jaadu! Will definitely be going back here – do go and check it out!
