I highly recommend, we had the ribeye and shrimp and it was absolutely delicious. It even came with desert but had to take home to go. The staff are very friendly. We were staying at John and Olivia’s and they recommended this place, glad we listened. We will definitely return next time we are in Virginia.

I can’t say enough great things about this restaurant! We didn’t have reservations, but they took us right in like we did. I even had a similar shirt on as the lady of the restaurant did. We were genuinely treated like family. Great people, great food! We were visiting from Cincinnati, Ohio. If I’m ever back in that Virginia area, I will definitely be eating at Mountain Mama Restaurant again!!

Wow, so yummy! We loved our seafood platter and dessert ( peanut butter brownie). It doesn’t look like much on the outside but we were so impressed by the price and quality of food. The service was great as well which is always appreciated!

An amazing hidden gem in central Virginia. Malcom is an amazing bartender. Try one on his signature cocktails. He makes an amazing French martini. You’ve got to try one.

We had a reservation for 6:30 which we had to change (kids) to 7 and we ended up about 15 mins late due to torrential rain. We were accommodated both times with nothing but friendliness. We contemplated cancelling completely because of the weather but I’m so glad we didn’t. The food was fantastic. Everything from the charcuterie board, the port wine, the outstanding seafood trio I had, and the surprise coconut cake was phenomenal. The price is higher than what people typically expect to pay for a meal but considering what you get during your experience, it’s not expensive at all. Thank you to the staff for a great first experience, we will definitely be back in the future.

Mountain Mama’s is very intimate and unassuming from the outside with limited on street parking but well worth the visit. The service was great and the food is delicious. I had the NY Strip, mac and cheese, collards. The space is small but the character of the space is huge. Upon seating they bring a small charcuterie board to your table, nice touch. They are definitely working well with what they have, even the restroom has its own vibe. There is also a bar inside. I really like the color scheme of the walls, floor and seating. With the quality of their food being as good as it is and the awesome atmosphere, I can see Mama’s expanding to a larger space with a more extensive menu.

Wife, daughter, and I went here tonight after a long day of errands in Charlottesville and a disappointing attempt at dinner there. But, at mountain mamas, everyone was super friendly and understanding that my daughter was a bit cranky. Such a nice, hidden place. The ribeye was perfect and my wife is so happy she finally found a place nearby with great crab. We will definitely be back!

The staff was pleasant, very wonderful small group of workers. The food was AMAZING. My sister, mom and I, intend on making this place a regular spot to eat for our special outings.

Traveling through on a Sunday, found the place on Google. Three tables inside and a few outside. Food was okay, not great. Best thing we had was the cucumber salad, but not worth 3.49 for a 5 spoonful miniature bowl. Burger was okay, not great for $9, it needs to be a higher quality bun for a half pound patty. All burger condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayo) come from a packet served with the meal at the table, not on the burger. The hotdog was not worth $9 to come with a side of chips from a bag.. No fountain drinks or brewed teas. All drinks are by the bottle in a cooler by the tables. $15 dollars for 8 seared scallops was a tad high and served on a plate solo with a sauce in a plastic cup, not even a garnish. The mac n chz was good, not great. The BBQ on the sandwich was cold. We ate it off the bun with a fork. They were out of ribs and shrimp and we dined shortly after opening… Staff was subpar to say the least, as we had to ask for silverware and napkins. The 30 minute wait for the meal was too long for the food received, especially being the only customers in the restaurant, granted they had a few pick up orders come in.
