This is my favorite type of sushi experience: small, authentic restaurant with no-frill sushi. We got the boat of chef choice sushi and the chef just lets the fresh fish speak for itself. We didn’t get a chance to try the regular rolls on the menu so we can’t speak for those, but the ones on this particular boat didn’t really add to the experience. Seemed more like an afterthought. We didn’t mind that since there was a ton of fish for the price. Highly recommend!

What an amazing experience. The atmosphere is very nice. It’s more traditional sushiya decor than the trendy Instagram pretty sushi spots that have become popular. Good sake selection! We sat at the sushi bar because we like to watch the chefs work.

Delightful service by the whole team! Great recommendations from our server which made for an incredible meal. Hip but cozy and laid back vibe. Intimate setting with great music, modern decor and high class touches. Fish is fresh! Looking for a top notch, authentic sushi experience without all the frills? This is your spot!

Make a reservation and make sure your reservation is for the correct number, as you will not be able to get in if you try to add to it. That’s how we got in. We didn’t have a reservation, but the group in front of us tried to bring one more person than their reservation was for and could not be seated. They also had to pay the $25 late cancelation fee even though we were lucky enough to get their spot. It is very much worth it!!! The staff was all super friendly and helpful. The food was amazing! It tasted very fresh and delicious! We even tried Uni for the first time. I would suggest you not ordered the 2 rolls if you do not like seaweed as it was a bit overpowering of the sea urchin. Other than that, it was great. We mentioned that to our waiter, and he thanked us for our (polite) critique!

Don’t think about it. Make a reservation and go. Whether it’s with colleagues, friends or a date night, the ambience and aesthetic is edgy. A beautiful homage to it’s roots, the space is small, but seating options varied. Too intimate to bring my toddler, but a welcome escape. Went for girls night and the entire team took care of us. Caroline was a genuine rad person, on point service as we never felt ignored. It was a busy night, we went all out and didn’t regret a single bite. You can’t go wrong, the best sushi in the low country I’ve had so far and beverage options were top notch. Pricing was sensible and I plan on coming back when I get my sushi craving asap. Order a bottle and indulge your senses.

Had a fee plates of sushi. The service was very fast and the food was delicious. Aside from the specials, it can get pretty pricey but we’ll worth the try.

Delicious food (gyoza is hand made in-house daily, not like some other places that just reheat frozen dumplings) and excellent service. The atmosphere is really great too; it’s not overly ostentatious with trinkets and decor like many other Asian restaurants, but is very elegant and tastefully arranged.

Shiki is an absolute hidden gem. It’s small so make a reservation because the sushi is worth the extra effort. The menu has a great bit to choose from so even if someone in your party doesn’t enjoy sushi there will be something for them to have. When you order the sushi be adventurous because there’s a lot of things you won’t find anywhere else in Charleston.

I went on a Tuesday with a few girlfriends and it was easy to park in the parking lot. It’s a small and cozy restaurant. We made a reservation before. We all ordered sushi and it was very fresh and delicious.
