Black Forest is the cutest little deli in West Bethlehem. The food was so good and the owner Natalia is so sweet! The highlights were definitely the halupki, chicken noodle soup, and the borsch. Can’t wait to go back!

The pierogis were really good. We liked the farmers cheese and potato ones best. First experience with borscht was good! The blinis were not what i had hoped so i will stick to pierogis next time.

A great ethnic jem, amazing food some of the best I have eaten in long time. This is real food not contemporary trendy or another burger with an egg craft beer joint. it’s all made by hand brought to the table by the very people who did the cooking, imagine that. The schnitzel was wonderful with its delicious mushroom gravy on a bed of fluffy mashed potatoes it was heaven. I told the owner chef it was one of the best things I have eaten out in a long time. The sandwiches were beautiful piled high with real meat sliced from a whole turkey breast. The soup I had a Russian dumpling soup was delicious. The chicken papirkash was delicious delivered over fluffy egg noodles. We ordered a sampler of the home made pierogies. The dough was lite and delicious the fillings sublime. Prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is down home with a few table and some outdoor seating. Don’t miss this wonderful step back in time to old world food made with care and tradition…

If you are looking for a real home cooked meal, go to the Black Forest Deli. This neighborhood eatery is owned and operated by Ukrainian immigrants. The menu reflects many of the traditional meals of their homeland. On the 3rd Saturday of the month they have a 5 course brunch (no reservation required). Where you do need a reservation is for the 5 course Kiev dinner. Seating is very limited so reserve ASAP. On my visit I counted 8 varieties of pierogi. The service is pleasant, the meals are filling and the prices are reasonable for home cooking. Can’t wait to go back.

Tried this for the 1st time today and it was a wonderful cozy mom and pop type of place. All of the food came out delicious. Just as a forewarning, it is a small location so if its busy you might be waiting a while to sit. They aren’t open very late either so keep this in mind. One last tip, I’m not sure if they don’t normally have the restrooms open but they let me use it. It is in the basement, through their counter and has no sink. (Be careful you don’t fully latch the door, i almost locked myself in )If you are bringing seniors or have a small bladder like me be prepared lol I highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you for bringing European Culture to this area

Service not commensurate with the place. I was the only customer and waited 20 minutes while she went to great pains to make a 2 sandwiches. When one goes to a corner sandwich shop with oilcloth table covers one is likely to be in a bit of a hurry. On top of that the sandwiches were very expensive, not what one would expect with a corner store atmosphere l. She should open a high end fine dining restaurant and all would be fine

Like the old mom & pops stores back in the day. This place is a classic reminder that homemade goods are always good. From their pierogies, sandwiches, potato salad and service. Reasonably priced and always served fresh. This should be a permanent staple in the Lehigh valley. It’s like going to grandma’s house and saying: “grandma you should get paid for doing this” Well these ladies are getting paid for this and deserve every penny.
