Loved this authentic northern Italian restaurant. Save room for the desserts. I know it’s hard since the pasta dishes are all so good and many other courses appeal. But the desserts were worthy too!

Very good Italian dinner! We made a reservation for Wednesday night and it was very good! We got the fava beans, arugula salad as an appetizers and then my wife got the gluten free pasta and I got a risotto. All of it was very good and I would highly recommend!

My husband and I had an impromptu dinner last weekend here. We didn’t have a reservation for a Friday night and asked if we could sit outside. The host told us around 20 min so we sat at the bar for drinks. The wait ended up much longer than that and although we were content with our drinks at the bar (I wasn’t even hangry yet), the owner or manager came by with a complimentary zucchini flat bread and his apologies. It was very thoughtful. The bread was delicious.

We had dinner with our kids at Il Milanese tonight after waiting patiently for it to open since the signs went up a couple months back. It was lovely and they have an excellent kid’s menu. My husband is Italian and we have traveled extensively in Italy and found the food to be reminiscent of some of the wonderful meals we had there. Dessert was also excellent. Such a nice addition to our neighborhood!

So happy this new Italian restaurant opened in our neighborhood! It already shows signs of becoming a culinary destination in Northcenter/Lincoln Square. Everything was perfect and so authentic and delicious. We met the 3 owners Carlo, Massimo and Riccardo who take so much pride in their craft and in their hospitality. Going back again tonight with more friends, and I just can’t wait to have their food again!!!

We went to a new Italian Restaurant in the Neighborhood called “Il Milanese”. I was skeptical at first as many Italian restaurants in Chicago are either too pricy or they present inconsistencies in the authenticity of their selection. However, I was completely blown away by this exceptional culinary experience. The ambiance was fantastic, cozy an yet elegant and serene. The buzz from the servers attending to customers was pleasant and in spite of the fact that the dining room was full, the acoustic allowed for a great conversation amongst my guests. This restaurant is a gem between ordinary anonymous diners and expensive dubious pizzerias costing the perimeter of the “Milanese”. Service was fantastic and always on point, anticipating any possible coming up request for water re-fills, bread or cutlery which was punctually marked at the end of each course. We were served by Owner/General manager Carlo Maggi who greeted us a the door with charm and full of Italian hospitality. His impeccable professionalism as a restauranteur and kindness and pride in the way he delivered self and food to the table was impressive. We had the ‘Grigliata mista” a combination of delicious gilled sea food ( octopus, tuna fish, calamari and scallops) marinated in herbs and olive oil that was outside of this world. It came with a light delicious mixed salad featuring one of my favorite greens: ‘radicchio’ and served with a balsamic vinaigrette. As an appetizer we tried one of their Zucchini and Parmesan focaccias, a true treat, soft and tasty, reminded me of the one my grand mother used to make. We also had two wonderful desert, Tiramisu’ and Panna cotta which were outstandingly presented. A slice of heaven for the palate.

Excellent and unique addition to Lincoln Square. Great cocktails with a fun bar staff. We had the house espresso martini and Negroni. For dinner I’d recommend the beef carpaccio which is fresh, light and delicious. We had a risotto and pasta to share and finished with a cappuccino and the panna cotta. We can’t wait to bring folks here. Decor is chic and cozy! Can’t say enough great things!

We have eaten here twice and I can honestly say the food is delicious. But here’s my beef–they charge an extra 3 percent for use of a credit card over cash or debit card. I had a lemon pasta dish with no protein–only pasta–at $22. The portion was adequate but don’t expect a leftover lunch tomorrow. I believe that this restaurant can pay the credit card company $ .66 (3 percent) on this dish easily. They need to understand that credit cards are used for business, and contribute to a buyer’s credit rating. This restaurant’s prices are high and they can afford it. I don’t expect to return because of this policy.

Everything here was excellent. Let me get you a tip: buy a bottle of wine. They have a really good selection for just a glass. Go for the bottle and at the end ask for a pistachio ice cream dessert. You are going to thank me tons for it. Staff is the best of the best in service.
