Some of the best food I’ve had on this Earth, the tamale recipe is generations old, made fresh. Brisket tacos had some of the best outright brisket I’ve ever had, 11/10 for real. Excellent service, great hole in the wall shop, great prices.

Husband stopped in for tamales. Called me straight away and said they were the best he has had in a long time. He is from Houston Texas and he said they reminded him of home so much. JR runs a business that is truly a labor of love—there is no other way to say it. “It’s Tamale Time” is genuinely a treat. Two types of cuisine I am critical of are Korean and Mexican given my heritage and upbringing; my wife and I have struggled to find good Mexican food for over a year in the area surrounding Benning, and while we are getting ready to leave, it is bittersweet that we found this gem today.

We sat at their one cute little table and ate a variety of tamales. Really delicious so we brought a dozen home. Favorites: chili cheesesteak and chorizo. We’ll come back!
