Mohammed Zabi Zaman founded The Halal Kingz in 2019. A First generation New Yorker whose grandparents emigrated from Kabul, Afghanistan , Zabi acquired his appreciation of cooking in the Afghan style in the kitchens of his mother and grandmothers. Very disappointed with the service and the food. I ordered lamb platter and they give me gyro platter. The chickpea is sour looks like old and the food was old. I ask for lamb platter with a cube, and they give me the Gyro process meat. I called the manager to discuss and I like my issues and it was a liar, not honest and not professional. Very disappointed with lack of honesty, and the way like the manager talk. I don’t recommend the food because I ate even think it’s healthy and I think it’s old and it’s not good. Everything is frozen and nothing you is fresh.

I ordered the lamb Gyro and it was amazing. The flavors were top notch. Portion size was very good. The white sauce was a nice touch…. Overall they nailed it. I think this redefines with a Gyro could be or what a Gyro should be – mad props to you guys for getting it done like that, will definitely be coming back here again with the whole family

Sitting over here picking at my husbands plate because it’s better than mine. He got the halal lamb bowl and it’s here’s some photos of what’s left. I suggest ordering it exactly as it comes… the sauce, everything is so good, the lamb super tender. Lots of meat!!

Chicken and lamb over rice with white sauce and salad. Amazing seasoning. Amazing lamb and chicken combo and the rice is cooked to perfection. Don’t hesitate or even look around just head to the halal kingz at the epiq food hall and get yourself a gyro or a platter. They even have falafel as well. Fries came out perfect and seasoned. Nowhere else to look just head there if you are in the area and get yourself some authentic afghan food from a true afghan owner. Owner was awesome and generous and gave us everything we needed in excess. All we had to do was ask! I will be back asap!

It was our first time at the Epiq food hall, we were walking around checking out different options and as soon as we got to The Halal Kingz, we didn’t even bother going any farther. Both the Gyro and the platters they have looked too good so we got 1 of each with Chicken and omg it was delicious. The chicken was the best texture and i couldnt choose a fav. The bowl and the gyro were so saucy and delicious. Mohammad was great, we had a great convo and he even offered to bring our food to where we were sitting. We had walked in 20 mins before they closed and he made sure we didn’t feel rushed and could dine in without worrying about them closing. We live close by so this is definitely becoming a frequent spot for us.

The food was ok! I am a person who likes spicy food and it’s not as spicy or flavorful like other competitors who serve similar platters and sandwiches. The biggest plus point is the food gets ready super quickly. I have a suggestion to ask the customer for sauce/extra sauce because it’s very dry. I like white sauce and red sauce more. Overall, I love the vibe of food hall and the seating is amazing.

I’ve tried the chicken platter and the chicken gyro. Both were very good. The sauce is great. Very plain salad but good. Chicken tasty and light. Rice was surprisingly good. Just enough food to fill me up. My lack of a fifth star is because of pricing. It’s over priced. The entire food court there is way too expensive. If Halal Kings lowered their prices they would make a killing there, but that is a business mgmt decision of profits vs longevity. Chicken sandwich should be 7-8 at most and platter should be 11-12. Even my suggested pricing is high…. but if u want to beat the neighboring competition and stick around, then that’s what it will take. Just ask the food vendors that have beat the 2 year threshold and lasted a decade which is a rarity now a days.

I had this for the first time today, and as an Afghan, I was pleasantly impressed with the quality of ingredients for the chicken bowl. Although this was packed with protein, it had a light healthy like freshness and it was to die for! The kabob was cooked to perfection and balanced well with the flavors of the white sauce and the softness of the rice. The chickpeas were the hidden star of this meal and melted in your mouth. 11/10, would definitely recommend! Amazing customer service and kind owner!
