Me and one of my friends wanted to try out a restaurant for restaurant week this year. So we went to Jack’s Bistro in Wicker Park. They serve French cuisine and it was a really good experience. I thought the restaurant was gonna be more on the upscale side but it’s very casual and laid back. The dining room is small but cozy. Definitely want to go back.

Wow! This new neighborhood family owned & run gem is a must go. The patio is delightful even when live music is on break. The oysters, French onion soup, and well selected wines are a positive prelude to the next courses. The elegance of the meal pairs perfectly with the welcoming family forward service. Other patrons were so happy here they chatted others up. Great vibe, main courses, and don’t skip dessert beignets!

Atmosphere is amazing! The dining room walls and ceiling are made from retractable glass, so on a beautiful day you can dine outdoors! So cool! Food was out of this world! Escargots were great, French onion soup was easily the best I’ve ever had. Tenderloin filet was fantastic as was the crème brûlée. Can’t wait to go back!

Such an awesome neighborhood spot. The menu is incredible and consistently gets better as they try new things (the new baked oysters are top notch). Love going for happy hour during the week, but had a riot on Saturday night with the pianist and great tunes afterward. Feel like family here.

Jack’s Bistro is destined to be a community hub for the Wicker Park Renaissance to come, should sufficient Wicker Park denizens be fortunate to find their way in. Michelle and David are always present and solicitous with a friendly warmth that is at once familiar and suggestive of open-ended possibilities. I do not live in Chicago, but am a regular visitor for the very reason of establishments like Jack’s Bistro. Michelle is Iranian-Italian, and she brings a fusion of cultures and foods grounded in “the good life.” If food and drinks are not quality, if service is not endearing, then why leave home? Michelle and David embody all the motivations to leave home, from the high-quality ingredients in their food and drink, to the carefully selected and vetted staff that promise to embody the European cultural ethos Michelle embodies the instant you meet her. I visit Chicago because it’s the closest I feel to Europe, where I like to jokingly, seriously point out the “adults live.” Adults run Jack’s, and if you understand European adults, then you will find Jack’s to be a slice of European Soul.

Had a fantastic dinner this evening at Jacks ! We had the beef stew, steak frites, bread basket, and of course espresso martinis. Everything was great, the food, the drinks, the service, and the atmosphere. Check this place out if you get the chance ! They also have live music on Fridays and Saturdays. 10/10 would recommend.
