Chips and salsa, 1 star. Most chips were stale, salsa is not fresh made, can or jar. House margarita, 4 star, a little sweet but good balance of tequila. Lunch plate, taco and burrito, 5 star! Delicious. Short staffed but we were well taken care of. Good lunch prices too.

What an awesome spot. The inside is so bright and colorful and is where I will be sitting next time because outside there is a ton of birds and flies and ignorant people walking through and stopping in the center of the walkway. If you can ever over the old middle aged “gringos” at the table next to you without any concept of what a service industry job is… Please. Enjoy the molcajete. It’s amazing. So very very good! The service was not the greatest and the good was so awesome that it in fact made up those stars in my book. I will hold Mexican restaurants to this standard from here on.

It was okay. We went because our family friend that is Mexican, enjoyed the food there a few months back due to their authenticity. However, since it had been awhile, they have changed to please a more American palate. Nothing wrong with Tex-Mex, just that we were hoping for certain Mexican dishes. They did however make him the dish he wanted, that was no longer on the menu and to be honest, it was the best thing I ate there. So tired of small Mexican restaurants having to change their menu because people refuse to try more authentic dishes. Overall, it’s not their fault, but maybe they can have a special for the week, where it’s still an authentic dish and hopefully people just learn to like something new. My dish was okay, mainly just bell peppers and pineapple, but the meat was good.

Great food, friendly staff, and average margaritas. On a Sunday afternoon about 3 pm we were the only ones inside the restaurant and it took 45 minutes to get our food. Staff arriving for the evening shift came out of the kitchen with a meal, before ours arrived. When food finally came it was very good. Not the margaritas, which were not mixed at the bar but poured by the waiter from a large plastic pitcher, and were weak on tequila. I went with beer after that. Molcajete is excellent.

I give 2 stars because I like the location and sidewalk seating. The staff were polite when you could flag them down. It took about 10 minutes to be welcomed in the front door and we were the only ones at the hostess stand. Once seated, it took 20 minutes to get drinks. It took an additional 45 minutes to get our cold food. At least the flavor was below average.

Stopped into Casa Maya based on the great reviews – but unfortunately, we were left disappointed. Ordered a jalapeño margarita and it tasted like cheap tequila mix and was not spicy at all. They brought us chips and salsa (which was a nice touch) but honestly it was less than mediocre. I’m a huge chips and salsa lover and I barely touched them. Salsa tasted straight out of a Ragu jar. I decided to get something small as the first two things disappointed, but wasn’t left impressed. The “chicken tortilla soup” was okay, but it was mostly tomato and definitely not a traditional soup. Staff was nice and attentive but based on the food..probably would not return.
