If you love sandwiches, then Conte di Savoia has to be on your list of places to go. It’s a small Italian grocery and deli that makes some of the best sandwiches in the city. My personal favorite is the Frank, which is toasted to perfection and so flavorful from its fresh cut meats, mozzarella, sun dried tomato, and fresh basil. Watching them hand slice all the meats is an experience by itself. Come try one of the best sandwiches in Chicago!

It’s been a while…but I have to say, Conte is still the best when it comes to old school Taylor St. Italian subs. Back in 2004 when I was still on the job, I was eating here about three days a week and driving in on Saturdays to pick up a 10 lb box of homemade Italian sausage which is fantastic !!! Anytime I had a party or a BBQ the number one question from family and friends was “Anthony, where did you get the Italian sausage?” And that just speaks for itself.

The Contessa sandwich was absolutely delicious with huge mozz slices and prosciutto. Prices are amazing for the sandwich sizes, lots of choices, great meats! Store has a variety of Italian items and some seating. Can get packed at lunch.

I never write reviews, but this place is so incredible here I am. I work within walking distance, and find myself here weekly for a delicious, inexpensive, high quality sandwich. I have also tried their frozen homemade pastas multiple times and have always loved it. Their fresh focaccia and homemade sausage is amazing as well. I always find something new to try and have never not loved it and come back for more. I love supporting family and local businesses, and this place has it all.

“Buon appetito!” The panni, subs, take home sausages, deli meats and homemade Italian foods are “prima qualità” in this “petito” Italian grocery store left over from when Little Italy was an Italian neighborhood. This vintage store had its day of Italian imports including a bigger wine department but less so now. Don’t expect warm hearted friendly service, eat and run. Casual tables in the front are usually cleared off. The mom & pop place without the mom, is a little run-down, seems like had it’s day but where just glad it’s surviving among this gentrified neighborhood.

Very nice and authentic. Please go in with expectation that it is a general grocery store with fresh food and ample space for sitting. Expect good/great food and not fine dining. Gelato is excellent and must have latte.

Salads, sandwiches, baked good r fabulous! Employees could b friendlier & atmosphere was a delight. I bought 5 lbs of their homade Italian sausage to take home & it was probably best I’ve every had outside of Italy.

I’m obsessed with the franks sandwich! It has the most simple ingredients but it’s so tasty. Bread is perfectly toasted as well. Always order via phone or online ahead of time so you don’t have to wait at that long line during lunch hour.

We have been going to Conti for 25 years. Their sub sandwiches are off the chart, and it’s one of the few places I can find Italian imports. My only complaint is their cannolis. Not the taste of them but the quantity. The last 5 times I have purchased the cannolis, they are maybe 1/3 filled (see pictures). I have called and complained several times, and today, I asked them to please make sure they were filled. They looked at me and giggled. When I served them tonight after dinner, I was again disappointed. To do the job correctly, maybe they should use a pastry bag instead of a spoon. Or maybe charge you a third of the price since that is what you are getting!
