Truly a hidden gem amongst a bunch of shiny rocks. My family has frequented this place for many years. It’s a staple of authentic Cantonese food in Chinatown. While there have been other restaurants that have come and gone, Lee Wing Wah has stood the test of time and has updated their facade but the food remains true to their roots. It might not be the flashy trendy place but it’s where many locals go to have a good meal.

I am delighted to share my review of Lee Wing Wah in Chicago, which I must say was an absolute delight from start to finish. Although there was a slight 10-minute wait for a table, it was well worth it, as the food and service were outstanding.

They DID IT AGAIN – 5 Stars! The dining room area has been REDECORATED! You have to come see it in person. A very relaxing visual atmosphere for eating. The food is excellent and tasty as usual with multiple attentive wait staff – never been disappointed.

Excellent service, super helpful and made me a dish not on the menu. Very clean and pleasant interior. Perfectly fresh food and tasty. Highly recommend.

The cocktails itself are worth coming here. I’ve never seen such cheap drinks at around $6-7. My friends and I love coming down there after work on a Fridays for drinks and to grab a quick bite. The food is amazing. I don’t recommend getting the American-Chinese food, but instead try opting for the authentic Chinese food (this is where they really shine). I recommend their salt and spicy shrimp (no shell). It’s like popcorn shrimp but a thousand times better. For veggies the pea pod leaf is a good introduction to Chinese veggies. They’re tender and so flavorful. Yes, the service isn’t the best, but that just what makes it more authentic. If you need something, just flag down a server and they are more than happy to help.

Nice place, Quick and friendly service. family style portions. The salt and spicy squid was my favorite dish out of our choices, tender and tasty. I would consider this place (without any disrespect Intended) a location friendly to those who are used to Americanized Asian cuisine. We definitely enjoyed our meal here at Lee Wing Wah but often crave for more than what we had when we visit the square.

My friend went inside to ask if we could be seated in the outside dining area. I was already outside. My friend came out with the waitress and said we could sit outside. He sat down but before I could even join him the waitress threw the menus across the table and then walked off — back into restaurant. I instantly stopped moving towards the table and told my friend that I was not comfortable eating there. We left immediately. Terrible first impression. I’ll never go back. I’m also not surprised to see other reviews mentioning poor service.

If I could put a zero star I would. My sisters and mom came for lunch and immediately sitting down we felt unwanted. We are Asian American (not Chinese) but we all felt the vibe that they did not like us. The waitresses were unfriendly and unhelpful. While waiting for the food (20 minutes), we had to ask the server for chopsticks, spoons, and water for ourselves. When the food arrived it was mediocre and nothing special. During our time there we had some baby bottles that had leaked and spilled on the ground. No staff jumped to give us napkins/mop until we asked them to even though they were all standing around staring at us. We felt rushed to eat and at the end the waitress with short hair made sure to point out that tip was not included in the bill. We 100% will never come back. We have never felt so awkward and out of place in a restaurant.

Absolutely delicious, cantonese style dishes with great portions. Stopped in during lunch and placed a to-go order that was ready quickly. The food obviously tasted super fresh and flavorful. I tried to order dishes I haven’t tried before which made for a fun experience and I definitely found some things I would get again like the fried salt and pepper pork chop. Overall, I’d say its a great option in Chinatown.
