Decided to try this place for the very first time a few week’s ago. My wife and I are new to the Richmond area and after reading some reviews figured we would give it a shot since we are from the south and are into Rib’s and BBQ. We were somewhat disappointed. We were seated rather quickly for the busy between lunch and dinner crowd, however it went somewhat downhill after that. It took the server almost 10 mins to even greet us for the first time. No name tag, no manners, and really appeared like she could care less that we were there or that she even had a job for that matter. After ordering our drinks, 2 Pepsi’s. It took another 7-8 mins just to get the drinks at which time we went ahead and placed our order. We both had the 2 meat dinner plate. I had the Beef Brisket & Chopped BBQ and my wife had the BBQ chicken and Beef Brisket. Sides were Mac-N-Cheese, Mashed Potatoes, and we both had the Cole slaw and both our dinners came with a Corn Bread Muffin. 23 minutes later we were handed our food by someone other then our server. Later learned she was one of the managers. The food looked good, well presented and neatly placed on the dish. Unfortunately it was no longer hot. It was however still warm enough to eat. The food itself was good. Not great but still good. The server never came by to check on us at all. About half way into our meal the manager came by to check on us and at that point we informed her of the food temp to which she apologized and happily set off to the kitchen for a HOT plate of Brisket and Chopped BBQ, only minutes later retuning with the HOT plate she set off for. This time the food was MUCH better. In the mean time a table was seated next to us with an older couple and for this table the same server was on top of there needs. This couple was of different ethnic background then us but I am not one to judge color like this server appeared to be doing. We eventually finished off our plates and received our check. Not to expensive, reasonably price for the amount of food we received. We paid our check and left the server our “two” sense. Needless to say, while the food was not bad at all, the service needs SERIOUS improvement. Next time we will try the other store across town near Short Pump where we have received excellent service so far everywhere we have visited.

Went to Famous Daves today for lunch with a party of 4. For this trip, I did not have to wait 10 minutes for someone to clean the table off. I waited 20 seconds to be seated. I was blown away and immediately noticed that this particular restaurant had a new manager running the show. After being seated, our orders were taken and the food came out hot and fresh in less than 15 minutes. The interesting thing in the amount of time it took for the food to come out was that the restaurant had double the customers it had when I last visited and encountered bad service. Bottom line is that I feel this Famous Daves is worth giving another shot and given the change in service, I would recommend more people go here. FOUR STARS.

I’d had a rough day at work and tried Famous Dave’s for the first time. Sat at the bar and the bartender/server could not have been nicer. He was friendly without hovering, helpful with menu suggestions and served everything with a smile and a kind word. The food was really good but the excellent service is what made my night.

This location (along with the rest of the Richmond, VA stores) closed suddenly late December 2014 citing financial reasons. My family used to enjoy eating here, but the last 6 months was dismal. Service, food, you name it, it was a far cry from what we used to receive.

Ribs are good. Love the fact that they give you corn on the cob & cornbread in addition to the rest of the meal. Also like that they have a healthy choice menu that is worth choosing. Haven’t been here too many times, but so far so good.

Had ribs and chicken. The meats were cooked to perfection and fell off the bone. The sauce selections were bountiful and excellent. We will return when back in the area.
