We did not expect to find such flavorful, well-executed, and satisfying food inside of a brewery—but now, I’ve gotta say, this is the perfect complement to the wonderful beers from The Veil! The skewers were perfectly grilled and seasoned (the shrimps, especially, were plump, juicy, with just the right amount of char and smoke), the cucumbers had a nice scent and flavor from shiso leaves, the rice and veggies that accompanied the skewers were delicately seasoned, and the black-sesame ice cream sandwich was easily one of the best version of the classic. Do yourself a favor, come here and order anything on the menu, and you’ll find your enjoyment of The Veil that much better!

Wow. This is likely my new favorite spot in RVA. Tonight I had flavors that invoked memories of neighborhood izakayas I visited in Fuefuki and Osaka, as well as childhood nostalgia peppered in. The chicken liver mousse is a must-try — perfectly balanced flavors and a velvety texture that was incredibly refreshing after a day in the summer heat, especially when paired with the harusame. The yakitori skewers were packed full of favor — I particularly recommend the chicken thigh! And if you like spicy food, the chili crisp squid is a TREAT. To top it all off, I’m a little taken aback that my favorite Old Fashioned in Richmond could be found at a brewery! Between the exceptional food, and friendly, talented staff, I can’t wait to return. I’ll be back tomorrow!

Good food menu! The kimchi, kimchi fries and fried chicken sandwiches were delicious! Don’t recommend the mixed drinks, they’re not very good. Just stick to their beer menu. Staff was not very friendly

Wanted to like this more than I did. Shrimp was a touch undercooked and salty. Chicken was alright and kimchi fries were good. The star of the show was the matcha yuzu roll. Dessert and the non alcoholic passionfruit drink were 10/10.

In-house restaurant at The Veil, including that food and beer tabs can be combined. Got it to-go. Hearty noodles. Easy sandos. Sweet and savory dessert. A fair amount of the menu is spicy, but spices can sometimes be put on the side. High-quality Japanese sando shop.

Its all in a name. The naming of dishes is important especially when there are no descriptions. For example, if one was to order kimchi fries you might expect some funky, acidic, spicy, fermented veg that may or may not be pan seared over some deliciously hot fries. However, when you get over salted and over gochugaru seasoned luke warm fries with no acidic balance and a lovely crunchy chili oil that’s over powered by mayo after 20ish minutes…it feels like a real let down. Please help manage your customers expectations by either providing a description or calling them by another name. Love Veil hence the atmosphere rating, and was really wanting to love Nokoribi but this single experience was not great.

The finest folks cranking out some of the most consistently executed and approachable lunches and dinners in Scott’s Addition. Family friendly (my 3.5 year old crushed the noodles) or ready for an adult night out with cocktails, beers and wine provided by The Veil. It’s refreshing to have an evening out with friends in a casual environment that doesn’t require a reservation

The food was great. We had the Chicken Katsu, Harusame, and Sugar Snap Peas. Enjoyed everything….not sure why others are complaining.

My experience at Nokoribi was nothing short of exceptional. If you’re looking for a place that offers outstanding Japanese influenced cuisine with a modern twist, Nokoribi is an absolute must-visit. I cannot wait to return and explore more of their culinary delights with The Veils outstanding beer selection.

We really really wanted to like the food but to be honest it really wasn’t great (and very expensive for the portions you get). If they’re going to keep the food the way it is they really need to knock a few bucks off the prices.
