I went in today around 3 in the afternoon and seems like they were in between rushes. The server was polite and gave me adequate time to peruse the menu. She brought over a complementary platter of humus, cucumbers seasoned with pepper and bleu cheese dip. The service was good and it rotated between her and the owner asking me if everything was to my liking. I ordered the gyro platter and the calamari appetizer. The calamari was nice and tender with fairly good seasoning throughout and the breading was crispy. I doubt they were frozen otherwise they would be chewy and rough. They however were a bit greasier than I like but that didn’t affect the taste at all. Just after i finished them you could see there was quite a bit of grease on the plate. This could be rectified with how the cooks prepare it in the future. My main dish was great, the meat was tender and well seasoned, all the veggies in the salad were fresh, crip and tender. The rice was nice and fluffy but could of used more seasoning. Overall a pleasurable dining experience with good prices. I docked one star for the greasy calamari and the semi-bland rice. Will visit again.

My wife and I had lunch at Opa’s yesterday. Wonderful gyro platter and Greek salad. The pita and hummus they offer (free) when you’re seated was very tasty. The prices were reasonable and the portions very nice. The waiter was very attentive and kept the drinks full and checked to see if we were happy. We will go again soon and recommend this little slice of the Mediterranean right here in Tucson!

The food was pretty good, TERRIBLE services. I don’t think the food was good enough to overlook the service. We had a waitress that proceeded to chat with her friend at a table sitting right next to us for a good 10-15 minutes holding a pitcher of water, while the whole time looking at my glass that was empty (oh yeah, then the water pitcher became too heavy so she had to set it down at that table). The wait for a table was terrible, then once you get a table, the wait for someone to even give you the time of their day is even longer. I feel like I’m begging for food, and not paying for it when I go there. Yes the food was good, but you feel like you’ve been given a huge privilege just to eat there and I’m not sure I ever want to go back. Are the owners too big of a push over to fire bad staff??? I still have a groupon, but the thought of wasting 2 hours just for lunch is too much. Not going there ever again!

I’ve wanted to like this place for years as it is close to my workplace. The food is delicious, the lunch specials are very reasonably priced, and the atmosphere is clean and friendly. Unfortunately that’s where the positives end. Time and time again I have placed orders for gyros asking for no onions. Not once, once, have they accomplished this task. Their ability to welcome and seat a patron in a timely manner leaves much to be desired. Their wait staff have trouble executing the task of seating, getting drink orders, and taking a meal order from customers every time. I watch the cook staff while waiting, always too long, for a take out order and they move like amateurs and always without apparent haste. The feel like amateurs. I often have tried to call in to place a lunch order and every time had to call back after receiving a message machine multiple times to reach a person. Always, the order is not ready when stated and I have to wait far too long for some pre-cooked lamb with tomatoes and tzatziki sauce piled on a pita. If they could get their service up to par with their food quality I would be so pleased.

While I do agree the service wasn’t the best, I don’t think it was a big deal (at least to the point where it significantly diminished my dining experience). The food I had definitely outweighed any mediocre service we received. For one, the variety on the menu is really good with a lot of authentic Greek option as well as Americanized Greek options, as well as lots of vegetarian and gluten-free options, if that floats your boat. I had the vegetarian moussaka, which was very tasty with every bite being unique. It also came with a good helping of salad and rice, that made the size of the meal as a whole very good. The prices were about average, but pretty fair. While the service at Opa could certainly be better, the food outweighs any other downsides of the restaurant

I drastically underestimated how much food I would get here. Came here because it was closer than another Greek restaurant I had gone to before and I wanted some gyros. Get there and they serve a platter with bread, cucumbers and dip. I order a gyro wrap and a soup thinking they will be smaller portions like the other restaurant I had gone to. Boy was I wrong! I got a large soup, a large wrap, a salad, bread, and rice. Man I looked like I had been starving! Haha. The food was amazing though and the price is worth it as I got a to go container and it fed me for two meals afterward! The staff was also very friendly and they were on top of the drink refills!
