My husband took me here for my birthday dinner and we had a phenomenal experience! First of all, the staff are all so friendly and helpful; they immediately set the ambiance while seating you. The outdoor terrace had such a great energy about it and was a great spot to enjoy our meal.

I really liked this place. We were hoping for some late night outdoor dining but the night we were there the weather was rough. But inside was pretty elegant. Understand this restaurant is part of a hotel building which was very elegant and we spent time actually exploring some of the public areas which you can see in my pictures. One important point. I felt way underdressed in shorts and a tee. This place is pretty dressy which makes it a good spot for a special date and not ideal for kids but I’m sure they are welcome. The third pic is of the hotel lobby.

This was one of the places I was most excited to try when coming to Chicago. I had never seen a roof top Chinese restaurant before especially one that has a dumpling menu.

This restaurant and the Nomi Garden at Park Hyatt are two best terrace type restaurants in Chicago. Nice open space that is also private enough to enjoy a fun, relaxed time with family or friends. Everyone here is super friendly and not pretentious. They offer classic Chinese food to perfection. Prices are reasonable considering the quality of each menu and the atmosphere. I wish they offered wine by the glass, but I was pretty happy trying a Chinese beer called Lucky Buhdda. I will definitely come back here to try the dishes I didn’t order this time.

We chose to dine here for my birthday lunch. They had limited vegetarian options on the menu but everything we tried was delicious. The ambience and decor was lovely and it has a great view of the John Hancock tower as well. I imagine it would be lovely during summer nights to dine here. Staff was attentive and great service. Food is a bit pricy but acceptable for a special occasion meal. I greatly appreciate the dessert that was served on the house for my birthday. The hotel is stunning inside and worth a walk around to see it.

Such a great restaurant. The atmosphere on the patio is so nice, you can sit a little above Michigan Ave, and you’re surrounded by the lights of the city. The food was phenomenal. Best dumplings I’ve had!

The restaurant is located inside the Penisula Hotel. First of all, the decor is very beautiful and has a great vibe. This is Chinese fine dining so expect to spend about 100 per person. The food is fantastic, very authentic Chinese food. We had the xiao long bao, the full Peking duck, Dong po rou and the seafood fried rice with abalone sauce. Every dish is cooked to perfection and was delicious.

So we decided to take a break from pizza and instead stepped onto the oasis, Shanghai Terrace, tucked into the Peninsula hotel. Beautiful, relaxing rooftop terrace. Recommend going after the sun goes down or eat inside. It was a gorgeous night, with gentle breezes. The staff was all super friendly and attentive. Smaller portions, but very tasty so i’ll give it a for the experience.
