Christine’s passion for food and entertaining people has a lot to do for why she is in the food service industry today. Coming from a big family, they’ve held so many parties for different occasions. When she arrived here in the US almost two decades ago, she honed in on her cooking skills, since no one was around to do the cooking. She would always try new recipes and invite friends over to taste her new creations. It gave her satisfaction when friends would rave on how good her food tasted. With a passion for cooking, the knowledge to run a business and the support of friends who are willing and would-be paying customers, why not open a restaurant? That’s when she opened her first restaurant in the North Park neighborhood in Chicago.
Relaxed spot for traditional Filipino cooking & burgers with beer & wine, plus a terrace. Based on 314 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.5 stars. Price $$

Kubo was fire! Our server guided us through the menu with expertise and provided us with clarity and comfortability! I’m no expert on Filipino cuisine, but the food was outstanding.

EXCELLENT! How I have not been here previously makes me upset. Everything we had was fantastic! We ordered the Pork Ribs Adobo, Lechon Sisig and a side of green beans (with shrimp paste). Flavors are well balanced, ribs were perfectly cooked. I also highly recommend the Turon a la mode for desert. Already planning our next visit!

Food was amazing and the service was excellent! We were in town visiting friends and wanted to do a special feast, so we did the Kamayan “Boodle Dining” for 4. It was amazing! A variety of seafood and meats, rice, veggies and fruit. I would highly recommend. The staff were warm and friendly, which made the experience even more delightful.

Cannot believe this place isn’t absolutely packed. Great service. The food here is phenomenal. The definition of an unassuming hidden gem. Authentic, perfectly seasoned Filipino food. We tried the pork adobo ribs which fell off the bone into a sweet and savory sauce and then we tried the pancit with longganisa. The pancit was great for a snowy night but the longganisa really stood out.

The food was great. The hostess was amazing, but my waiter started off the night wrong by making a joke that made my entire table uncomfortable.

The food and service was wonderful! We had so many options for Filipino food in the area and only one night to experience a fraction of it, so I’m so glad I picked this restaurant! I had the lechon kawali which was phenomenal! The fats melted in my mouth and the skin was so crispy! I also got the fish balls and lumpia as appetizers and they were very nostalgic and delicious. I had a lychee martini which was strong! Then I had the halo halo for dessert, which was also very good. I cannot recommend this place enough! I think the owner spoke to us and she was incredibly welcoming. I can’t wait to come back!

Went there just this past Friday..(10/08/21) Near perfect dinning experience. The outdoor seating was spacious, comfortable, with upbeat..not loud ..energy. The egg rolls..Lumpia..I have been craving Filipino egg rolls for years. At 1st bite I knew these were the real thing. My Dad had the fried whole fish, flaky and moist..just Don’t gobble it down, whole fish has bones..lol. My beef shank dish was in the best broth with lots of tender beef. The Adobe pork had a yummy sauce. We liked everything save the fried shrimp appetizer (too much breading)but, the grilled shrimp are on my to do list. Food and atmosphere were great. And I got a lemon drop shot and delicious dessert when they found out I was celebrating a birthday. Can’t wait to come back to Kubo!

First time at Kubo and it was amazing. The drinks, food, and desserts were amazing. The service, though the server was a bit rushed (probably due to staffing) was on point. He knew exactly what to suggest and was quick in getting our orders. I would highly recommend Kubo!
