My boyfriend and I came up from the Chicago suburbs to go chill at Kemil beach, on the way back we decided to cross through Gary as we have been there many times, but never have tried the food! OMG! The hot wings were SO GOOD! I’ve tried multiple places near Chicago – Sharks, JJs, Brothers submarines, no place has wings as good as Gowdys! The hot sauce was sooo good and flavorful, yet the wings were still SO crispy and good, plus they were big! I will absolutely be back for more wings! My boyfriend loved the fish as well!

Back in the day this restaurant chain was called Salamon’s, they have had a few restaurant name changes and revisions but they still retained that same great taste from back in the day. My favorite is the whiting fish which I get the large special every time. I have no complaints on the fish. I gave a 4 star because of the fries, which are good, but I wish could be better. But nevertheless Gowdy’s is definitely good eats and I recommend stopping in for a bite.
