I thought Frisco melts were put together differently…cut in half …with two patties. What happened here? Also the top of the fries container was crunched up and pushed in. It was like almost purposefully all bad. Did I do something to you?!

It’s good for the most part but it always takes a long time to get your food even when it’s slow and you just order a milkshake. Sometimes it’s clean, sometimes it’s not. It really just depends on who’s there but it seems everytime I go in there’s tension between whoever is working.

I normally like Steak n Shake but this particular location has issues. They’re understaffed and poorly managed. Service time was terrible. The only bright spot was the waiter that finally brought us our food. Genuinely apologetic for the glacial speed of the service. I fealt sorry for him to have to work there.

The past 3 times I have been here has been a horrible experience. One time I had to repeat my order 11 times (yes 11) and they gave me a completely different order than what I asked for. After that I didn’t return for awhile. Here recently my boyfriend and I went to give it another try and we sat at the table for 30 minutes and not once did a waitress even ask us what we wanted to drink so we left. Keep in mind it was us and two other tables that were being used and another group of 4 people had walked in and got their food and we hadn’t even been asked what we wanted to drink. We went back again because it was the only restaurant open and we were hungry and this extremely rude waitress looked at us and said we’re closed even though they are open 24 hours. They even have a sign on one of the windows saying so. So I don’t recommend going there. They are extremely rude, they leave tables dirty. I suggest you spend your money elsewhere.

Food is always good, but the service is ALWAYS slow and sometimes downright inefficient. Learning curves for new hires is one thing but it seems this facility looks for the least motivated candidates to employ. Then there is the issue of under staffing, and lack of professionalism on part of management/supervisors.

The service was incompetent. We waited 15 minutes before someone noticed us to sit us down on a dingy table. The red-headed waitress was even worse. She seemed unmotivated to do anything, which is why we waited 30 minutes without seeing her. She slammed our drinks down on the table like it was a 1000 pound weight, very unpleasant. We even gave her the benefit of the doubt and tried to give her a tip on our card, and even then she seemed disgusted to do more work than she had to. On top of it, our food was cold and stale. Very terrible experience. Steak and Shake should be ashamed to employ her, and everyone else at their Carbondale location. Get better training over there immediately. As a businessman, if my employees acted in this way, slow and incompetent and unfriendly, I would fire them all.

It was terrible. I went in to order thinking I would get fresh hot food made right in front of me. Nope! I ordered my food right before a couple friends of the manager came in and ordered. Of course they received their food first. Y’all know how fast them fries get cold? By the time I received my food the fries and the sandwich seemed like they had been sitting in the fridge as leftovers. Mind you I just ordered and sat and watched my food be taken to the back and never brought back up until the others had their food. As hungry as I was, by the time I left I had no appetite. Waste of my time, energy and money. No stars for u steak and shake. Thank the manager or supervisor who worked the night shift the eve of the 4th. This isn’t the first time he’s messed up my food either. Looks like I need to take it to corporate…Looks like I had to give at least 1 star in order to leave a review but it wasn’t deserved.
